Ariel

My eyes fluttered open as I felt a line of sunshine coming through the window.
Yes, people. Ghosts sleep too. The ones you saw in the cemeteries or haunted house are just a group of ghosts partying, like teenagers. Sometimes, some of them are feeling down and can't go to sleep, that's why you find them hanging on the tree alone at 3 AM. I don't know about vampires because I haven't met one. But, yeah, we generally are like human too.

I rolled to my side and see Shawn still fast asleep on the other side of the bed. Small snores came out of his slightly opened mouth. And even after all these years, his messy curls and sleepy face still has the same effect on my stomach.

He's cute when he's in a deep sleep, but I also feel bad seeing him this tired. He had spent all night writing and strumming his guitar last night.

I got out of the bed and headed to the living room. I saw Shawn's phone is on the table, so I took it since I have nothing to do, and I don't have a phone. Don't do this at home, guys.

I scrolled down through Shawn's private Instagram, looking through the faces, comments and replies he got on his photos. Maybe there's someone that we can approach. I scrolled, scrolled, and scrolled. Tadaaa. I found a Shawn-type girl who's appeared in the crew photos a couple of times.

Not long after, I heard Shawn's bedroom door opened.

"Good morning sunshineee," I said as he showed himself still rubbing the eyes that just been opened. I grinned at him and he replied it with a giggle.

"Good morning, Aal," he said coming to me, "How long have you been awake?"

"I don't know maybe 15 minutes, it's not that long," I said while keeping my eyes on the phone, "Shawn, who's Agnes?"

"Damn, Ariel," he jerked a bit, "You're really determined in whatever you do, eh?" a small laugh left his lips, making my heart fluttered.

"People with similar treat get together, Shawn," I smiled remembering how he dozed off in a seated position last night with the guitar still on his lap.

"Thanks for getting me into the right position for sleep last night," he said smiling. He walked to the kitchen counter to get a glass of water before he joined me on the sofa, "Which Agnes are you talking about before?"

I tilted the phone in my hand so he could see the photo I was looking at.

"Hey this is my phone," he frowned, "Oh, her," he took a glance at the screen before focusing back on his iPad, "She's one of...," he paused awhile to finish whatever he was typing on the laptop, "my stage coordinators," he closed his Mac, leaned back and closed his eyes once again.

"She looks cute," I said while scrolling down through her Instagram account, "and seems kind."

Shawn opened his eyes, bringing his face closer to mine, and looked at me with his eyebrow furrowed.

"And, she's single! See there's no sign of boyfriend in her Instagram posts," I lifted my head to meet Shawn's deep hazel eyes.

"Doesn't mean she doesn't have a boyfriend, though," his eyes didn't leave mine even a second.

"Nah, considering her frequency of posting, and her job, plus the working environment she's in, there's only a reaaaally small chance she made her relationship a secret," I lifted my thumb and forefingers that's making a small gap gesture.

"Wow, you're sounding like Sherlock Holmes right now," he shook his head while chuckling.

"Shaaawn, come on," I groaned, "Can you be serious about this one sec? Please?" I frowned, getting annoyed by his act.

"Roger that, Agent Bennett!" He sat his back straight and gestured a salute before going back to his leaning position.

I rolled my eyes and groaned dramatically once again, "But, seriously, Shawn, you should try."

"Mhm," he whines, turning his head to the opposite side, tried to find a better position to get rid the fatigue of his neck.

"She seems nice, and I believe my gut," I looked back to my phone and swiping through her photos with other Shawn's crew members.

"How, Aal?" he mumbled sleepily.

"Just talk to her. This is not like your very first-time relationship," I stood up and walked to the kitchen to make Shawn a soothing morning tea.

"Like she wants to talk to me," he spoke a little louder so I can hear it from the kitchen.

"She followed your private Instagram and you accept it, means you're close enough," I turned on the kettle and it boiled not long after.

"She probably played truth or dare and being asked to follow me," he woke up to the clacking sound of the teacup.

"Shawn, stop being so pessimist. Here," I handed him the tea, "Be careful, it's hot."

"Mmm, thanks babe," he blew it and took a sip from the cup, "Alright, Alright. I'll try," he said between the sip he's taking. "Man, seems like she's on PMS," he said under his breath, thinking I wouldn't hear his words.

"What did you say?" I threw a glare at Shawn.

"No, I didn't say a thing," he said before he jumped out of the sofa and ran as fast as he can to his room.

"Shawn Peter Raul Mendessss," I shout, following him to the room.
Shawn grabbed his towel and rushed into the bathroom, locking the door.

I grinned proudly because of my new ability, "I can go through doors, remember?" My head poking through the door.

"Oh, shit. You're right," he wrapped around his towel around me and hug me as tight as he can. Both our laughter filled the air, "God, I love you so much, Ariel," he pulled back and cupping my cheeks with the towel.

"Same here, Shawn, same here. But we need to stop doing this if we want to pursue our goal," I said with a sad smile on my face.

He sighed. His eyes mirroring sadness.

It hurt him to hear those sentences. But, so did I.

I turned around and left him to take the shower.
