Chapter 79

 "I don't know. I've never seen her before," she said. "And it doesn't look like just a peck on the cheek."

"When was the last time you talked to Marian?  She can't find out like this. We...." 

Kaia grabbed the rag magazine and added it to their stuff. "We'll take this too," she said. "Pay for the groceries, baby," she said and started to put the bags in the cart.

 Zayn pulled out his credit card and quickly paid.  He was stunned by this new revelation. "Ready, Kaia?"

She nodded and they went to the car and put the groceries in. "I talked to her just the other day. She seemed okay. Like nothing was really off," she said. "Let me call her," she said and placed her hand on his arm. "I'll ask her where he is and then as much as we want to tell her about this, tonight we need to focus on us. We will be there for her no matter what, but we're important too. Our relationship is important."

"I know, we can't rush to save her. We can only support her.  I hate that this is happening to her. Life is unfair and I know that we must put our marriage first. I just need to make sure she is okay. If you don't mind that is."

 "Breathe and drive normal. Not like a bat out of hell like you like to do sometimes," she teased him and leaned over and placed a sweet kiss on his cheek. "I love you."

 "I can drive normally. I'm a good driver."

"Head towards home and I'll call her. I'll put her on speaker so you can hear. Sound okay?"

Zayn nodded then put the car into gear.

 Kaia pulled out her phone and pulled up Marian's number and put it on speaker waiting for her best friend to answer.

 "Hello, Hello!" Marian smiled into the phone.

"Hey, bestie."

"Hey, how are you doing?" She asked. "Calling up for another date with me and Faith?"

"Doing good. Zayn and I had our first couples therapy session today," she said. "Sure, we can do that. What day works for you?"

 "Interesting, you had a couples therapy session. Is Zayn still talking to you?" Marian asked then heard Zayn clear his throat in the background.

 "Yes, we found out some things about each other that we didn't know. It wasn't easy, but we..." She gave her husband a smile when she felt him give her leg a reassuring squeeze. "It's something that we should've done a long time ago. We're moving forward and upward."

"Good to hear. I'm glad to hear that you guys are making it work. It makes me happy to hear that someone is." 

Kaia glanced nervously at Zayn. "So, anything new and exciting in the Styles house?"

 "Working on some interesting new things for my career as a novelist," she told her. "Harry is off in Berlin working on his tour. Figuring out all the logistics of a massive tour." She said rolling her eyes at the notion. "He wants to start his tour this summer."

 "He's in Berlin?" Kaia questioned. "With the okay that you've gotten from the doctor to fly will you and Faith be going along?"

Marian grunted slightly at this notice. "Spending the next 18 months on tour with my husband isn't my idea of fun but," she paused "If I'm going to make my marriage work like you I have to put in the effort right?"

 Kaia looked at Zayn again. "I think all marriages are hard work," she said. "I can't see you spending the next year and a half on the road with him, to be honest. Will you join him from time to time?" She asked. Wondering if this mystery woman would be Marian's replacement.
