[JADE]
it was a rainy saturday noon and i was waiting for my personal uber driver, aka my best friend, leigh-anne.

me and leigh have been best friends ever since 3rd grade, aka since when we were 9.

she was a new student and our houses were close, so we were on the same school bus.

we started talking to each other and got closer and closer each day, whenever we saw each other in school we always waved to each other, etc.

we became best friends over time. now it's been 9 years since that and we're still going strong, i couldn't ask for a better best friend.

when i was still daydreaming, a familiar voice shouted my name.

"jade !! hurry up !!"

"i'm coming !!" i shouted while walking down the stairs and i got into leigh's car.

leigh got her driver's license 10 months ago and she can drive herself wherever she wants, but things aren't the same for me.

my parents have always been really overprotective of me and they don't want me to get a driver's license until i'm 19.

so, since we are hanging out all the time, leigh's driving us everywhere.

at least i thought it would continue forever.

my grandmother, who is 102 and has alzheimer, also has some people helping her, close relatives and her younger friends.

also my dad. i can't see my dad often, he's always with his mother helping her which is a good thing though. i want my grandmother to live, but i just wish i could see my dad more often.

my dad called us last week and told us that things are getting worse, and that he needs us here.

maybe we would be with my grandmother for only 1-2 years, maybe not even that long, but i still didn't want to go. i don't want to weaken my friendship with leigh.

for a week, all i did was packing at home and i had to spend this day with leigh, just in case we'll have to leave sooner than expected.

i've been practicing to tell leigh that i'll be away for a kinda-long time in front of the mirror for the past day.

yeah we could do a long-distance friendship, call each other all the time and facetime, but it just wouldn't be the same.

"jade, you won't believe it" leigh said in excitement.

"what happened?" i asked in curiosity.

"you remember the test i told you about?"

of course i remembered. leigh didn't talk about anything but that test last week.

it was a huge exam. people from many countries participated in the exam and leigh still had hopes about her winning.

"i'm the 15th!"

my eyes widened in happiness. leigh worked so hard and i was so happy for my best friend.

"so are you going?"

the exam was an exam of a huge school in liverpool. it only takes 20 people each year, and that 20 people get in the school with huge scholarships.

there's also another option for the winners, they can just take the scholarship as money if they can't go.

that school was leigh's dream so i was pretty sure she would go instead of taking the money.

"probably, i don't know, i don't want to leave you here though" leigh said.

"i'll be fine lee lee, it has always been your dream" i said to her. but i kinda wasn't fine with it though. i knew i'd miss her.

"i haven't decided yet... so, i remember you texting me so desperately... what was so important that you wanted to hang out on a sunday? you never go outside on sundays" leigh asked me.

after all the happiness, i just couldn't tell leigh.

it would make her decision harder and make me even sadder.

i didn't want to go.

i didn't want to make her sad, so i just ignored her question and opened my phone.

"jade, you know that you can't just ignore me, right"
leigh asked. i knew, she knew me too well.

"it's not that important right now hun, i can tell you.. later" i said, knowing that leigh would still insist.

and she did insist.

"jade, please. you know you can't hide anything from me and you also know that you can tell me anything, you told me it was important, so please"

"no..." i refused to tell her. a side of me really wanted to just explain and the other side of me kept on stressing about what can i do.

"jade." leigh's voice got slightly louder. i knew she was getting mad at me and i had no choice but to tell her.

"leigh i really can't" i said. the last thing i would want right at the moment was to hurt leigh's feelings.

leigh couldn't stand me anymore and took a sharp left and she almost hit the other car.

"leigh stop" i said. i was deadly scared, for all i knew, i could die there.

she ignored me.

"okay fine, i'm telling you..." i mumbled.

i took a deep breath.

"leigh, i have to go"

"where?!" her voice sounded weak.

"to my father, you know... i may never see you again so here i am."

leigh went silent.

i looked at her and saw a tear...

dropping down from her cheeks.

"jade, i can't lose you" she cried harder.

i tried so hard not to cry.

"leigh stop it, i'm ruining your concentration... just please focus" i said. i didn't want to die.

i bet leigh could barely see. her eyes seemed blurry.

she meant to turn to her left but since she couldn't even see...

she turned right.

"LEIGH WHAT THE HELL" i shouted.

we crashed the other car.

"j-jade... i love you" was the last words echoing in my head, and i went unconscious.
