Third pov
Three days went by without anything special happening as Phoenix tried to get to Miami.
She'd forgotten how it felt to be on the streets but not what was needed.
What she hadn't counted for however was help.
Though to be fair, the help started with someone pulling her into a car.
A hand was quick to silence any screams as someone pleaded with her to be quiet.
"Please don't scream. We wannna help."
Phoenix stilled and so did the person that pulled her in.
It was deathly quiet as they waited to see what the other would do.
****************************
Julian Ramirez had done many risky things in his 28 years on earth.
But basically kidnapping Phoenix Verone had to be the riskiest and potentially stupid one.
She wasn't exactly known for being the nicest to people she found threatening.
And right now she was staring at him with a mix of suspicion and anger.
He held his hands up in a non-threathning manner. "We just want to help. There's people looking for you, and your family, but you have people that want to help too."
Shortly after Phoenix got together with Carter her name spread like wildfire in the streets.
The Cortez family's former princess was suddenly known by even the smallest of streets.
And during the years she not only cemented herself a position in The Toretto family, but she got monopoly on several places vital to different cities and she actually kept them running smoothly. And she organized the car scene.
By doing that she kept a lot of people afloat and out of bad places.
She'd made many enemies, but also many allies.
And now they wanted to help her.
"Why would you help me?" Her voice was guarded and she was discreetly trying to find anything to use as a potential weapon.
"You are one of very few people that gives a damn about what happens to us in the gutters." Diego spoke from the drivers seat. "You've helped a lot of people. And now we want to help you. Got any place you can go? We heard about your husband going off the grid."
Phoenix watched the both of them before shaking her head. "I have two different teams looking for me. One of them are terrorists. If they find me with you, you're screwed."
The two young men shared a look. "We know."
She muttered something to herself before sighing. "I might have a place. Can i borrow a phone?"
Julian handed her a burner. "Here."
Phoenix hesitated before calling a number. She waited until someone picked up.
"Who is it?"
"A bird looking for a place to stay." She hoped the guy would pick up on it.
"Phoenix, that you?"
"Yeah. I'm in LA."
"I'll inform Danny that you're coming by. See you soon."
She hung up and handed Julian the phone back. "Got a GPS?"
Diego handed her the one he'd had turned off in the front. She put the adress in before handing it back.
Julian leaned against the door. "Want something to eat?"
Phoenix nodded. "Yeah." She hadn't eaten in a good while and her stomach was begging to protest.
Julian picked up a bag that had been hidden by his legs and got a store bought sandwich from it. "It's what we have, sorry."
She shook her head at his apology. "Don't apologize. It's more than enough"
I know it's short but I'm just getting back into things.
Is there anyone that would like to talk ideas for the book with me??
Vote and comment, it keeps me motivated :)
