Ace and Kate first meant in kindergarten, the two young girls were very different from one another. Ace was always the goofy one, not very serious at anything she ever did. She was the one who always would try and make others laugh. When she first joined the school she was very cubby and always played with her cheeks by gently taping them in the middle of class.

Kate was the girl who was always way too serious about everything, (who would be so serious at a young age) she would be the one who would color inside the lines while answering question no one else knew. Kate was known as the teacher's pet as always and would usually just sit on the bench and not play while the rest of her class was playing tag or house on the playground.

So that's really how it all happened, Ace doesn't want anyone to feel left out of anything and hates it when people don't have any fun. Kate was just sitting on the bench, coloring a flower with blue, yellow, and green crayons. Ace sat across from her, smiling at the pretty drawing. "You did that!" A wide smile came onto Ace's face, dimples forming on the sides of her cheeks. Kate was surprised by the sudden noise from the girls mouth, the blue mixing in the yellow in the middle. Kate's eyes widen at the picture that she was working on for her mom. "You made me mess up!" Kate yelled at Ace ripping the paper in half. Ace's big brown eyes widen at the sudden ripping of the beatiful drawing. When Ace said that to Kate her blue crayon only went inside the yellow where the lone meant, you could barley see the blue in the yellow. "Why did you do that?" Ace asked as Kate put on a frowny face. "It was ruined." Kate had tears crossed her arms looking down at half of the flower where you could see the blue line in the yellow's spot.

"I don't see anything."

"Are you blind! It's right there and it's all beacuse of you!" Kate yelled. Ace looked down at the pictur picking up both peices.

"I don't see anything, and I think I'm not blind. I better ask mommy that." Kate rolled her eyes, pointing at the flaw in drawing.

"Right there!"

"I can't see anything."

"Well then your blind!"

"I guess I am, mommy lied to me."

Kate tilted her head at the words that came out of Ace's mouth. She started to calm herself down, staring at Ace's face. Her brown eyes were big, filled with happines (when are they not) but then a little bit of disappment. Ace stared into her blue ones, seeing her sad but currious eyes. "I'm sorry." Ace whispered. "It's okay." Kate whispered to her.

The curly headed girl looked down a frown slowly coming onto her face. "Hey," Kate said a smile coming onto her face. Ace hummed in response. "The swings are free." Ace snapped her up in surprise. "Race you." She yelled jumping from her seat and running across the playground. Kate giggled at the silliness of the older girl, following after her noticing Ace over the crowd with her bright candy cane jacket.

That's how it went really, from kindergarten through first grade. Ace dragging Kate into the craziest of games she could ever think of. Kate showing Ace how to calm down in certain situations and how to keep herself from yelling out random remarks that no one needed to hear.

Now they were in second grade, a time were it is very critical and everyone needed a passing grade to get to the next level. But today was a very serious day for Ace.

She sat next to Kate in every class and would always watch her draw the prettiest of things. Ace never understood why she would look at her bestfriend like that, it was just a habit that she never got rid of. Today in math class, Kate was drawing a butterfly with detailed wings that looked like they could be lifted off the paper and fly in the sunset. Ace sighed, finally deciding to ask her.
