THIS IS WAR | INFINITY WAR
Chapter Six
⚡️

TO ANY NORMAL HUMAN, MELISSA would've looked like a meteor as she zoomed to the ground, the heat hitting her skin but she was strong enough to fight back the pain. Bruce looked up from the ground at the distant rumbling before covering his eyes as it approached at a fast rate.

Melissa landed aggressively, with a loud thud, a few meters ahead of him, fist planted in the ground and heels dug into the dusty floor. She flicked her head up, blowing a strand of hair away before straightening her back and dusting off her suit.

"Haven't fought an alien in a long time," Melissa admitted through ragged breathing as she turned to face Wong and Bruce. "Reyna's gonna be happy to see you," she pointed to Bruce, the scientist frowning at the mention of Reyna Daniels.

Bruce tentatively bent down, picking up a dusty flip phone from the street. Both Melissa and Bruce looked behind to see Wong exciting the scene through a golden portal.

"Where you going?" Bruce asked as Wong dusted himself off.

"The Time Stone's been taken. The Sanctum remains unguarded." Melissa tilted her head at his words but Bruce nodded, seemingly understanding Wong's reasoning. "What will you two do?"

Bruce looked down at the phone in his hand before raising it. "I'm gonna make a call." With that the opening closed, leaving just Melissa and Bruce on the abandoned street.

"So..." Melissa began, clasping her hands behind her back and bouncing on the balls of her feet. "Where have you been all these years? It sure has been a long time since we last saw each other. Oh! Also... what's a Time Stone?" Bruce smirked at Melissa's unsure sentence as he flicks the phone open to reveal only a single contact. Steve Rogers. "I'm being serious, Bruce... Reyna, she... she was heartbroken after you left."

That sure caught the doctor's attention as his smirk faded and he looked up to Melissa with sadness and pain evident in his eyes. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you..."

Melissa's voice was very challenging. "Try me."

Bruce bit his lip nervously, looking anywhere but at Melissa. Deciding it'd be better to tell her then to lie, he inhaled sharply, finally making eye contact with the Superhuman. "I was the Hulk for two years..." he blurted out.

Melissa's challenging stare suddenly dropped and her expression became concern and sympathetic. "Wh-what?" She stammered, not believing her ears.

"I was the Hulk for two years after Ultron. Thor and this warrior girl, Animalia, they saved me..."

Instantly, Melissa's face lit up at the mention of the God of Thunder, she barely picked up on the other name. A grin broke onto her face. "Thor?" she repeated excitedly. "Is Thor here as well?"

Bruce bowed his head shamefully, frowning at the memory. Even if he wasn't fully in control on the Asgard ship, he felt like he could see snippets of Thanos easily overpowering the Hulk.

Melissa's face suddenly dropped, her breath hitching in her throat at the hurt reaction Bruce had to her words. She quickly assumed the worst but shook her head. "No," Melissa said sternly, startling Bruce. "No-I-I refuse to believe that..."
