She dropped the gun and ran over to my near-lifeless body "I didn't mean to!" She screamed. "I'm so sorry!" Her sobs were the only thing I could hear as I drifted in and out of consciousness. I managed to muster a few breaths and closed my eyes to prepare for whatever came next. A little while passed before I heard sirens outside. Next thing I knew I had woken up in a strange place and sat up to examine my chest. No holes. Either the doctors did a really good job, or I'm a goner! I saw a shadow coming around the corridor.

"I see you've arrived safe and sound!" The stranger proclaimed. Is that good or bad? Where am I? The stranger approached me with an almost too happy grin. Little did I know I was looking straight into the face of God himself.

"Welcome to the afterlife! All we need to do now is check the book." The book. That sounds familiar. Wait, THE book? The book of life? I should be in here! "Ah. Grant Williams, Let's see." He flipped through the pages of the book and stopped abruptly with wide eyes as he looked onto the page with, what I assumed, was my name. "This is the worst sin any mortal being has committed in millions of years! I'm sorry son, but heaven has no place for you."

"WHAT? What could I have possibly done that could earn me an eternity of suffering?!" I begged. "I probably shouldn't even speak of the horrible sin you have committed, but since you asked so nicely, I guess I can make an exception" He looked away for a moment, then peered at the book and began to read. This oughta be good. "This man, Grant Williams, has lead a life of helping others and being kind. This, however may be overlooked for the fact tha-" Just then I heard footsteps running towards me from behind. Before I could turn around, I woke up again, this time in my own bedroom, and I was staring into the barrel of a gun with my wife on the other end.
