Chapter 1 - New friends

(Y/N)'s POV

I'm 14 and my big dream was to become a doctor. I was walking home from my aunt, who taught me everything about health care, what she knew. She was a doctor by the way. She was respected by many and I wanted to be like her.

So I was walking home when I suddenly heard the bells. I knew it meant the arrival of the survey corps. I rushed to see them. I was always interested in their expedition. It wasn't an exception this time either.

How I saw, it had gone pretty badly. They had several casualties. That was the point when I decided to become a medic of the scouts regiment.

//Time skip//

A few month later I joined to the trainee corps. I started to walk towards the place where I could change my clothes.
"Hey!!!"Suddenly I heard an energetic female voice from behind me. I turned around and saw a girl with glasses, brown hair and don't forget to mention the wide smile on her face. "I'm Hanji Zoe but call me Hanji. And who are you?" She asked excitedly. "My name is (Y/N)." I said with a kind smile.
"Why did you made that decision to become a cadet and where do you want to join after the graduation, (Y/N)?" She asked curiously.
"I plan to be the first official doctor in the survey corps. They have a lot of casualties and dead soldiers. Maybe I can help them a little if I can finish my studies beside the trainings." I said and I'm sure She could see the confidence in my eyes."But what about you?" I asked with tilted head.
"I want to help the victory of the humanity against those giant monsters." She was as determined as I was I could see it in her eyes. "Well, that's good news! We can stay friends after we graduated!" Hanji said happily. "Anyway, I'll be the top of the ranking,(Y/N). You can be sure." She said with a grin.
"I'll definitely beat you, Hanji." I said with a grin as well.
"Doubt that!" She commented and we both started to laugh.

An hour later every cadet had changed and we waited for our trainer.
"Fall in line!" We heard a forceful male voice. Without hesitation and as fast as we could followed his order."My name is Erik Brown and I am your training officer from now. I am here to make your life a living hell!"He yelled. Erik turned around and looked at me."Name, district, Corps and reason!" Erik yelled to me.
"(Y/N), (D/N), Survey Corps and I want to help on the casualties to decrease teir loss, Sir!" I yelled the answers.
"Yeah, you can surely save them if you have only their limbs. You are going to be another snack to the titans. You purposes are meaningless." He said. I knew he just wanted to break us whit this sentences but it was still painful. I tried to let it go and stayed determined. He countinued this method whit everyone else.

After our introductions we had to run 20 circles around the camp, which was pretty big. After that our training countinued with push ups, sit ups and different kind of exercises.

At the end of the day every cadet felt numb. I sat down. Rather collapsed.
"(Y/NNN) carry me. I don't have enough energy to walk on my own." Hanji complained to me while She was kneeling on the ground.
"Hanji look at me. I barely have enough strength to stand. Where the hell did you get the idea that I can carry you too?" I asked her.
"The hope is the last thing what dies." She replied with a chuckle.
A few minutes later we could stand up and lent on each other. It was hard to reach our room but we were able to do that.

//Time skip//

About thirty minutes later Hanji and I headed towards the mess hall while we were chatting with eachother. She talked about her childhood.
"Then mom scolded me because I was covered by dirt." she tried to not burst out laughing. "But the funniest part was the moment when she saw the mantis in may hand and freaked out." At the end of her story we both laugh out loud.

When we reached the mess hall and took our foods we started to search empty places. A few seconds later we noticed a guy who was sitting alone.
"Hi. can we sit here?" I asked him with a smile. He looked up at us and nodded as a response. Hanji sat next to him and I sat on the opposite chair. " I'm (Y/N) and the girl next to you is Hanji." She waved madly to him with a closed eye smile.
"And who are-" The energetic woman couldn't finish her sentence because the guy sniffed her. I looked surprised at him but Hanji just laughed. "You're funny but seriously what's your name?" She asked with a smile.
"Mike Zacharias. Nice to meet you girls." He said in a calm voice.
" Why did you sniff her?" I asked curiously.
" It's just a habit of mine. Don't mind it." He answered.
" Where will you join after graduation?" Hanji asked him.
"Survey corps. I want the humanity's freedom as well. I can't just sit behind the walls and do nothing." Mike said.

About fifteen minutes later we all finished our foods, said goodbyes and went to bed. A few moments had passed and Hajni fell asleep but I was just laying in my bed and thinking. 'It was a pretty good day, although I know the trainings are going to be harder and harder, but I won't give up. I never do. I will finish what I started and my family will be proud of me.' I promised to myself and felt my eyelids became heavier then they was a moment ago. Minutes later I finally could fall asleep as well.
