Elena was having her weekly run where she would go run down the path by the Han river once a week on nice days and listen to music. It was a great stress relief but she didnt really like running outdoors, she just barely started and she was already tired.
After just running a short distance, Elena stopped and began panting.
"Dang, I need to start running more." She mumbled to herself as she propped her hands on her hips and stretched her back as she looked around her.
Elena saw families out and about, flying kites or just having a simple picnic. There were couples sitting together in the grass and laughing with each other about things she couldnt even imagine. It was peaceful out.
"Elena!"
Elena heard her name being called out through her music and she looked around her to see Yoongi jogging up to her.
"Fuucckk.."
Was all she could get out before Yoongi stopped in front of her. He stood there, small smile on his face, his blonde hair falling almost over his eyes and his pale skin seemed a little darker than normal.
He was gorgeous.
"Hey." He greeted simply with a small wave.
"Uhm.." Elena removed her airpods and gripped them in her hand before smiling nervously. "Hi."
It was a bit awkward. The two stood there and looked around before Yoongi broke the silence.
"So, I heard you started seeing someone."
"Oh. Yeah. I did." Elena bit her lip as she looked up at Yoongi. She glanced at his pink lips and suddenly remembered the many times she stood on her tip toes and kissed them.
"Look," Yoongi took a step closer to her, she could feel his warm breath on her face and it caused her to take a hesitant step back. "I dont think you should be seeing him."
Wait, what?
Elena looked at him with such a confused expression, she wasnt sure if she heard him right. He thinks she shouldnt be seeing him?
Yoongi has been trying to get Elena off his back for months, annoyed with her bipolar drunk texts, her good mornings and good nights. She thought he would at least be relieved that she had someone else to catch her attention.
"Why?"
Yoongi pursed his lips as he thought of an answer, he was sure that he could say that and she wouldn't question it. She usually never did.
"I just dont trust him, that's all. I know I shouldn't be saying that after all that happened but as your friend, I just dont think you should be seeing a guy you met while you were drunk at a party."
Elena looked down and began to think about what he was saying. Its true that she met Jimin when she was drunk and she didnt even remember him when he texted her, but that one night with him just felt right.
Maybe she was being naive, wanting love so badly in her life, but why would Yoongi be so concerned all of a sudden?
"Thanks for your concern," Elena looked down at her feet before looking him straight in his beautiful eyes. "But I can see whoever I want."
Yoongi ran a hand over his face as he sighed.
"I know you can.." He whispered and looked down at their shoes. She was wearing a pair of Nikes that she had bought when they were together, they used to be bright pink but now they were dusty and slightly worn from all the exercising she does in them.
"Here," Yoongi dug into the pocket of his basketball shorts and brought out a folded pamphlet. "I just wanted to give this to you."
Elena took it and opened it to reveal a wedding invitation with Yoongis and Danielle's names on it in beautiful writing.
Her mouth dropped open slightly as she opened it and read what it said.
"June 9th. That's the official date? A month from now?"
Yoongi nodded, almost solemnly as he watched her reaction. Her mouth closed and her expression seemed to drop, her brows furrowed and a slight frown set on her face. But after a couple seconds it was replaced with a smile that he could tell was forced.
"That's great. Im happy that you two finally agreed on a date." She pocketed the invitation and placed her airpods back in her ears. "I have to go, but put me down with a plus 1."
She gave him a curt smile before she turned and began running in the direction she had came from. Yoongi stood there for a few moments before ruffling his bangs frustratingly and sighed.
"Damn..."
Elena ran and ran, her heart pumping harshly in her chest and her breath coming in and out quickly. Her legs started to prickle in pain as they were being over exerted.
They already had a date for their wedding.
A date.
It was a month from now and she just didnt want to believe that it was happening. It wasnt that long ago when they were together, sleeping in the same bed and being in love.
They were in love once.
Elena didnt stop until she was at her apartment door. She yanked it open and came face to face with a purely shocked Taehyung, she collapsed against him and suddenly she began to cry.
Taehyung didnt say anything as he wrapped his arms around her, he laid his chin on top of her head and held her tightly as she sobbed into his chest. He didnt know what was going on but he held her for hours, he held her for what seemed like forever before she stopped and looked up into his concerned eyes that was filled with so much love for her.
She looked down between them and pulled out the invitation and as soon as Taehyung saw it he now understood why she had her breakdown.
"Oh Elena..." He pulled her back into his body and he felt her shiver in his arms. "I'm sorry."
Elena closed her eyes as she melted into his warmth and slowly her tears dried up as she continued hugging her best friend.
