One step ahead

Micheal Stampen

   There were little people I knew who didn't have a crush on Micheal Stampen though he wasn't exactly perfect he's important though.
   It was homecoming time, and I didn't think I was going, why should I go? There's just too many random boys who enjoy dancing and drinking, I can't do both plus I'm 15  and the epitome of awkward it's like a huge go and make a fool of yourself.
   "Can you believe it Kory asked Dylan, so lame firstly the guy should ask the girl and Dylan is way out of Kory's league" the girls in the front of the class went on engaging in casual banter being as loud as ever.
"Why are you guys still talking about Dylan, Micheal hasn't picked a date yet" Shawna from the front said. "No way! are you kidding Micheal always has a date before the dance is even announced" Mikayla said exaggeratedly shocked. "I know right, every year he picks some nobody girl and makes them his date and then their his girlfriend and total divas" Kylie grinned "wish I could be one".
I slammed my head on the desk will you morons shut up their are other people in the class or rather IN THE WORLD. "Hey Paisley are you going homecoming" Mikayla turned possible reading my thoughts, "nah its boring anyway" I rolled my eyes and so did Mikayla "only cause you don't have a date" she mocked. "But Paisley your like really pretty, your green eyes are totally cute, you should ask someone" Kylie grinned, yeah no thanks.
   Ms. Gillan walked in "morning class ready for homeroom" she glared at the girls in the front to get back in their seat, Dylan walked in along with Micheal and a few other boys, I didn't see Kory. "Okay let's start off with attendance, Arlene Kimmy?" "Here" "Billingsly Nicholas" "present". After role Ms. Gillan told the class about cleanliness and bullying, the usual stuff.
   "So I believe you all have heard about homecoming that is this Friday, I'm expecting nothing but romantic gestures for this week, but boys try not to disturb classes with your crazy gestures and confetti is banned, Mr. Calimon did not enjoy eating confetti last year" everyone erupted into laughter and Ms. Gillan giggled then straightened.
"Miss, who's decorating the hall this year?" Shawna asked. "I believe the seniors are, the sophomores were too much last year" Ms. answered. "Do you know who's in charge of the decorating committee?" Shawna asked, "oh it's a boy, Alex Spring I think" everyone was shocked a boy head of the decorating committee unheard of "That's your brother isn't it Dylan" Kylie turned asking him, Dylan bent his head.
"What a total loser, what dude in his right mind would do that girly stuff ?" Micheal laughed, Ms. Gillan glared at Micheal "maybe you can ask him after you finish your detention this evening" she spat "whatever" Micheal said plugging in his earbuds not caring.
After class I went to locker 21c in hopes of talking to Dylan luckily he was there "what's up?" he asked "I need you to ask Kory something for me" I bit my lip "what?" He narrowed his eyes, "can you ask her... what's the new fanfic she wrote" I said averting my eyes "you mean the ones she makes on teen wolf?" "Yeah..." "no way you like that show? Unexpected, it's a romance you know" "it's got some gore in it too shush" he laughed "I'll tell her" we walked the hallway together going to meet our siblings.
"They're probably going to the dance together" I say, "yeah most likely" he nodded. "Are you going?" He asks, "what for?" "I don't know the food?" He laughs, "my mom makes good food" i reply "oh maybe I should come by you then?" "Aren't you going with Kory?" I ask looking up at him, "actually she's sick all week she said she can't make it so, I don't think I'll go" he smirks looking up at the ceiling what is he looking at? How outdated this place is? .
"Would you mind going with..." He was cut off by his brother rubbing his head messing up his already messy hair. "You excited or what?" "For..?" He asks "for the dance silly" he giggled girlishly. "Are you always this innocent" I ask most intrigued, he gives a weird look "what do you mean?" I blinked at him okay... well I think this guy is the complete opposite of his brother .
   "Babe aren't you excited" Kelly grinned not acknowledging me or Dylan, "super excited" Dylan mocked finally capturing Kelly's attention "oh hiii guys" she grinned "Alex asked me to homecoming" Dylan and I acted exaggeratedly shocked, making Kelly and Alex laugh, the four of us had became really close since the whole neighbors stuff including Kory it'll take one more member to mess up our group but that'll never happen, "Hey Paisley" spoke too soon.
"Hey Micheal, whatsup need homework answers or bail from detention" Dylan laughed "both those things but I was talking to the lady" Micheal says ignoring Kelly who is also a lady, "Hey Micheal" I said, he smiled "would you like to be my date to homecoming" "what!" My eyes shot open oh hell no "sure" I reply.
