Chapter 15
I looked for Kayla’s name on my contact list. We were supposed to come online and skype each other. She wanted me to update her on everything that had been going on. I told her about Jeff’s mom and she was so shocked with the news. She kept asking how i was. I wanted to laugh at the irony of her worry. It was not me that she should be concerned with.
Kayla’s face popped onto my screen and i waved at her. She broke into a huge smile and gave me a silent scream. I laughed.
“So, update me, dude,” she demanded, resting her chin on her hands.
I blew a breath of air. “You already know everything.”
“Then just repeat them. Now, i can see your expression when you say it,” she stated, shrugging.
I rolled my eyes. “Dave’s moving away soon. I have to go over his place and help him pack up his stuff since he is really bad at that.”
“Aren’t all guys?” Kayla asked, one side of her mouth lifted.
I grinned. “He’s just trying to delay everything.”
Kayla’s green eyes twinkled. “So how are you two?”
“We’re fine,” I replied, smiling.
She gave me a wicked grin and i got suspicious. “Fine, huh?”
I frowned, knowing what she was thinking. “Kay, there’s nothing going on.”
“I didn’t say anything,” she pointed out, smiling innocently.
I sighed in frustration. “You certainly implied something with that tone.”
“I saw how you looked at him the last time i came. I know what you feel towards him,” she told me sternly.
“Yes, i know what i feel too. I care very much about him,” I stated, folding my arms.
She leaned back against her chair. “Too much.”
I narrowed my eyes at her. “Don’t be ridiculous.”
“I don’t even know why you deny it. I know you know what i mean and you know it’s true. Is it because of Jeff?” she asked, emerald eyes unnervingly intense.
I gulped. “I don’t know what you mean.”
“You still love him. I can see it. I’m pretty sure if that boy kisses you, you’d be all over him in a second,” she stated. “Luckily, he knows his limits.”
I tensed at what she said. She did not know about the two kisses that happened between Jeff and me. I was not planning on telling anyone about it.
“Yeah, luckily,” i agreed, forcing myself to remain stoic.
Kayla looked at me, brow slightly frowning. Then, they shot up and her mouth fell open. “He kissed you!”
“Sshh!” I hissed furiously, looking around my room.
“Omg! When? How? Why?” she shot at me. “Julia Leward, you tell me right now what the hell happened.”
“Would you stop being dramatic?” I sighed, running my fingers through my hair.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” she asked, sounding hurt.
“I just wanted to forget about it. I was sick and he came to visit. We were talking then suddenly, he was kissing me. It meant nothing. Then a few weeks later, this happened to his mom and he was so vulnerable. I just... I couldn’t push him away,” I admitted, voice soft.
