Morgan brushed her fingers where his lips had touched hers. It had been two days since New Year's Eve, and she hadn't slept. Her thoughts were consumed with the mind-blowing kiss. She replayed the evening in her head, trying to dissect what could have gone wrong.
As everyone was screaming Happy New Year, Morgan was focused on the breath-taking firework display going on outside. He tapped her on the shoulder, and before she could speak, he kissed her. She welcomed the long but delicate embrace. She breathed in the intoxicating scent of his cologne, woody with a hint of sweet. After what felt like hours, but could have only been a few seconds, their lips parted. Neither of them finding their words, his glistening hazel eyes stared into hers.
Morgan shook her head, hoping the memory of that night would fade. She wasn't sure if she would ever forget that kiss, but she could have done without his rude departure.
At first, Morgan thought it was silly to be absorbed in something so miniscule. He treated her like a jerk and fled the scene without saying a word. She didn't even know his name. She recalled seeing him a few times in line at the coffee stand, and for the past three years at "Ignite Magazine's End of the Year" celebration.
His tall and muscular physique made it hard for her not to notice him. Morgan remembered him wearing a suit on one instance and he looked important. He could have been one of the bigwigs for all she knew. Her company was housed in a three-story building and had a lot of employees.
But after two sleepless nights, Morgan felt different. She wasn't nearly as mad at him for the way he acted, and she thought it had to mean something if she couldn't get the kiss off her mind. She wondered if he was thinking of her too. If anything, she deserved answers from him.
