Louise Silver stood atop her balcony, overlooking the crowd below.

Her eerily pale skin matched her pristine white dress. Louise's ebony hair contrasted deeply with her pure white appearance. It hung low enough to reach below her waist.

She wasn't human, she was a vampire. Louise wasn't been bitten and turned. She was simply born to a vampire couple.

A hundred years ago, a mob of humans gathering outside her home would have been a bad sign.

A rock smashed against the brick wall next to her. Another busted through one of her windows.

Things weren't significantly better in the present day, with only one small exception.

Her kind no longer hid in the dark. Mythical creatures such as vampires as herself, werewolves, and other monsters no longer hid in the dark after the seal had weakened. It was the seal of their homeland, a separate dimension away from the main plane where the humans lived.

Another rock came an inch from grazing her head. Her eyes narrowed at a group of four teenagers within the crowd.

Louise noticed a boy amongst the group. A black cloth covered his mouth and nose, obscuring his face. Strands of black hair hung under his cap.

His eyes locked on Louise's. Even through that makeshift mask, Louise could see scowl form.

Flashing red and blue lights appeared at her front gate. Three police cars pulled in.

"Finally." Louise crossed her arms. "It took them ages."

A gentle hand pulled Louise back.

"Honey," Louise's mother said. "Please stay inside until this is cleared up."

She was a tall woman. Her skin was even paler than Louise's.

"Puny humans! I remember several hundreds of years ago, humans don't even have the guts to look in our eyes! They just broke one of our windows!" Louise said.

"The police are already here. They'll deal with the ones that did that later." Her mother said gently.

"Ones?!" Louise asked. "It wasn't just one or two, they were all doing that!"

"Sweetie... they-"

"Whatever." Louise stormed off.

The evening passed quietly after that. The police made no arrests, which didn't surprise Louise in the least.

She ate at the dinner table, her mother sat across from her, and her father was in the other room, talking to someone on the phone.

Louise picked at a piece of chicken on her plate.

"Aren't you going to eat?" her mother asked.

Louise shrugged.

"Are you still angry?"

"Of course I'm still angry!" Louise snapped. "That's the second time those animals have shown up at our doorstep! We're not leaving town, so why don't they just stay home!?"

"We have to be patient. If we are, they will eventually leave us alone."

Louise looked down at her food. Her thoughts drifted back to that boy. He was only one of many, but if there was a single person in that crowd Louise wanted to get back at, it was him.

Louise didn't know why. Maybe it was just because his face was the only one she really looked at, covered up as it was.

Her father walked in from the other room. Unlike her mother, and herself, he looked fairly normal. His hair was short and black, and his skin tan.

"We're having guests tomorrow!" He said in glee.

Louise's father had a friend which he owed a lot. That friend was the reason why they moved into this town, to repay his kindness.

"Why are we even bothering about these humans! Although he saved your life, it's not enough reason to move to this town where all the people are disgusting!" Louise said, clearly, she still hasn't gotten over her anger.

"Be nice Louise, they are your father's friends and mine. They might even become your friends too" her mother said.

Louise's expression stubbornly remained glum.

I just got home. I went to join Matt and the three others to stone the Silver's. We joined the mob that also went there to throw stones at the vampire residence. We only disperse when three police cars pulled over and the policemen told us to go home.

"Aidan, where have you been? We are worried about you" Aunt Leonora asked worriedly.

"I'm sorry Aunt Leonora, I just went with my friends for a walk and lost track of time. I promise it won't happen again, besides, I'm strong enough to take care of myself" I said as an excuse.

"We know you are strong, we're not worried about normal bullies but the monsters. Although they are now under the laws, there are still others who follow their bestial ways" Aunt Leonora explained.

"I understand," I said.

"Forget about it, he's a grown-up already" Uncle Frank smiled. "By the way, we are visiting a friend tomorrow, yes, you're coming with us. No 'buts'" he said.

"Alright," I said, I've got nothing important to do tomorrow anyway.

I went to bed early but I couldn't sleep. My mind was preoccupied with the things that happened earlier. I joined the mob throwing stones at the Silver's. But my throw was a bit off and it nearly hit a girl about my age. I shouldn't have come there, now I am full of guilt. What if the stone hit her?
