Josie's POV
To say me and Peter AKA Spiderman were feeling down these days was an understatement. We were absolutely frustrated with the adults of the group since the day they had taken our suits and forbid us to go to any missions at all with them. It's not like the youngest ones got to go often to save the world, but since Pietro and Wanda were a bit older and more in control of their powers, they accompanied the older Avengers to very important missions, where me and my spider friend were left alone in the tower or at school.
I knew why though. My dad and uncle Bucky had explained it to me thousands of time, saying that my powers were so big they could overwhelm me and give my enemies an advantage over me, just as it had happened with Loki last time he was here. Still I didn't feel they acknowledged my efforts and progress and so, when I said it not so gently to my father, he took my suit away as a sort of 'grounding' thing.
Kinda the same thing had happened to Peter. Tony Stark, who had created the suit and had taken it upon himself to watch over the young spider boy, had taken his suit about a week ago because he almost caused a disaster that could have ended with the lives of many. It had broken my friend's heart and he had been blue ever since.
That's why, that day when we were heading home from school, I told Wanda and Pietro to go ahead of us. It came out a little bit more hostile than I'd have wanted, since the resentment of them having the trust of the adults was still lodged in my heart. Peter dedicated me a curious look as our two friends walked away from us, but I didn't reveal my intentions until they were out of our sight range.
There was this game me and my spider friend loved to play when adults weren't around. What was better? The original or the copy?
"Alright mirror girl. Can you do this?" Peter defied me as we shoot a long, thin yet very strong thread across the park we were walking through.
"Totally" I smirked even before I felt my powers were working. I just needed a second or so, and each day I spent with him made me faster in doing what I do. I felt a tingling through my arm before I imitated his posture out of instinct, shooting the same amount (if not more) of thread that landed on the same spot as him. "By the way, you call that a nickname?" I asked him with a cocked eyebrow.
"I heard you were working on it, since you're the only one that doesn't have one" he smiled gently at me, probably thinking what he came up with was any better than any of the thousand names I had been thinking for myself.
"And I need your help? Because sure. Spiderman is sooo original" I mocked him just to provoke him a little bit. We were very competitive and that was the beauty of this game.
"Fine. Fine. Hey catch this!" he said before throwing his apple really high in the air. I chuckled a bit at his antics before I used my threads to capture it and bring it back to me.
"Don't you have something a little bit harder?" I spoke to him arrogantly before taking a bite of the green fruit in my hands.
"Alright. You asked for it mimicker girl" he spoke to me as serious as he could muster while cracking his knuckles before running away from me.
"Stop it" I grumbled before following him across the park. This little spider was fast.
When we reached a few towers in the middle of the city we jumped as high as we could. Our fingertips glued to the brick walls and we started escalating the highest tower of them all in a tough race. Needless to say I got to the top first, but Peter insisted it was a tie. He was such a sore loser.
"How about woman instead of 'girl'. That sounds harmless" Peter kept on and on about the name conversation I was desperate to drop. Only that when he said that, he turned on the fire in me. He certainly knew how to provoke me as well.
