Chapter 3 - The Arena

Mia's POV

It was already a great day to move on from sudden deaths. I'm now glad because I got my own weapon and I'm glad to learn my first special skill.

"Hey Mia." called out the person at my door.

"Hi Melissa."

"Are you ready to go?"

"Go where?"

"To the arena of course."

Arena?

I asked Melissa what the arena was but she didn't answer. What she did was actually bring me to the arena itself. It was so huge. There were hundreds of students screaming and cheering. It was so amazing until I got to the point where I saw two girls battling with their weapons. So that's what those other girls were cheering for.

"Pretty cool huh?" asked Melissa.

"How will they know that they win?"

"When the other one is knocked out." she replied.

The other girl gave the other a huge punch and then she was unable to move. She looked like she was already dead.

"Does the principal know about this?" I asked in panic.

"Don't ever tell the principal about this arena or we will be-" she gulped and didn't continue what she was gonna say.

The battle was already over and it was time to choose the next pair to battle. The spot light came out and it was used to be the pointer to the person who was gonna battle.

The spot light pointed at some girl who looks like an assassin.

"The person who will battle this girl will be..." the announcer said.

The next person who was pointed was...

This can't be true.

"The newly chosen, Mia!"

I was just a new comer in this arena and now I get to battle? What's worse is that my opponent has a yellow colored orb so she might be skilled.

Everybody in the arena started to count backwards just like a countdown should be.

"Fight!"

The girl dashed and said, "Weapon Creation!", and then a huge cannon became connected at her arm.

"Weapon Creation!" I said.

My weapon came out and I immediately used my special skill but before I could activate it, the girl was already in front of me. She pointed her cannon at my chest and activated her special skill, "Grand Blow!"

It hurt so bad. If I was to take another hit then I'll definetely die.

I stood up but I can no longer straighten my body. I tried to use my special skill again, "Skyrocket Punch!", but the girl just blew it up with a single blow. After that I fainted.

I woke up and the first thing I saw was Melissa's face. I sat up and gave her a big slap in the face. Her expression was full of shock. I know she didn't expect that but she almost put me in danger. Melissa left while dropping tears from her eyes.

A moment passed and I realized something. I have to apologize to her.

As I got to the arena, I immediately saw Melissa. She wasn't near me, she was so far away to the bottom of the crowd. She was literally in the arena battling.

As I saw her in there, I witnessed that she was winning. She was blasting the opponent with such speed.

The opponent was already down but the crowd simultaneously announced, "Overkill!!!"

Melissa gave everybody a smile and so she said, "Energy Blast!"

That was her special skill that I saw from before. But now I felt that it was even more powerful than before.

The beam came out, directly hitting her opponent that was lying on the ground. She was screaming in terror. In less than a second, the beam disappeared and so was the girl. Not even a single drop of blood was left.

How could Melissa do this? I asked myself.

Everybody in the arena except Melissa gave a gasp. But Melissa just sat down and laughed.

"Now it's time to choose her... next opponent." the host announced.

The host turned the spotlight on again and he turned it in the whole arena until the light stopped in... Me.

Again?

"It's the newbie Mia! Her first fight wasn't that amazing but will this fight be her first win?"

Why me? Why me again?

"Weapon Creation!" We both announced.

As usual, the opponent dashed at me. I moved as fast as I could and evaded sending me to the left corner of the arena. But evading wasn't a good idea.

Melissa started to use her special skill, "Energy-"

"Skyrocket Punch!" I yelled first and then I landed a hit.

Melissa was now spitting blood.

"Are you ok?" I asked.

She didn't answer. Instead she stood up and laughed again. She pointed her gun at me and she said, "Second Skill Creation!"

What?!

Her orb was now shining. It turned yellow so fast.

"Over through Laser!" she yelled.

Then a sudden powerful energy came out from her gun. I tried to dodge it but the beam was too big to dodge. Luckily Melissa started to fall on her feet. Then she fainted.

"Melissa is unable to move because of obtaining her second skill!" the host informed.

You faint when you obtain your second skill?

Then the crowd cheered, "M.I.A."

"Mia won!" the host announced.
