School Shopping

Janus lay in his bed asleep until a certain three year old came running in and started bouncing on his bed. Janus grumbled to himself before looking at the ecstatic face of Remus. The toddler had a huge grin on his face and was almost vibrating with joy.

"Jan! Jan! You said we were gonna get my backpack today!" Remus squealed while bouncing beside Janus.

"I know Remus, but we need to get ready. Come on. Let's get breakfast ready," Janus chuckled while hauling himself out of bed.

Remus, still bouncing, followed Janus out of the room, down the hall and to the kitchen where the man of the house prepared their breakfast. Janus leaned against that bar that separated the kitchen and the living room while Remus was sitting in a high chair eating the waffle Janus had prepared for him. Once they were both done with their breakfast Janus assisted Remus in getting dressed, the outfit consisted of a green shirt with a cartoon octopus on the side, some comfortable blue jeans, and the boy's favorite sneakers.

After helping Remus get dressed Janus quickly changed himself, putting on a yellow shirt and black pants. He put on a black hat as well, because why not. Once done he met Remus in the living room, the child laying on the floor as if Janus had taken hours to get dressed.

"Come in Remus. Let's get your new backpack," Janus said while grabbing his wallet and car keys.

Remus jumped up and ran to Janus' side, taking the older man by the hand. The pair walked out of the house, Janus locking the door on the way out. They walked over to the car and Janus buckled the toddler in his booster seat in the back before climbing in to the driver's seat.

They drove for about twenty minutes to their local shopping center where Janus helped Remus out of his seat. The pair then started to the center, Remus bouncing around with excitement all the while keeping his small hand tucked in Janus' larger one. They entered and Janus lead Remus to the Back To School section. Remus tugged on Janus' arm to make him go faster causing the older man to chuckle.

They finally made it to the section where the back to school stuff was located and Remus' bright green eyes lit up with wonderment. The young boy immediately started looking at all the backpacks, his eyes growing larger with every one he looked at. After nearly ten minutes of looking Remus finally picked out a navy blue backpack with green spikes and horns along with lime green eyes that made it look like a dinosaur.

Janus smiled as Remus ran up to him so he could proudly show him the new backpack.

"Is that the one you want Remus?" Janus asked while picking up his son.

Remus nodded viciously while bouncing up and down in Janus' arms. Janus laughed at the three year old's giddiness, pleased he was happy with the find.

The pair then went to the check out, leaving out other materials since the Preschool Remus would be attending at the start of the school year supplied most of the items the children need. They checked out and made their way to the car where Janus buckled Remus back into his car seat. Remus held his backpack close to him while the smile on his lips never faltered. Janus spared one quick glance at the rear view mirror to see Remus's joyous face then drove them back home.
