For the reason known as plot convenience Kahona, The Village Hidden in the Leaves, was planning on having a talent show. Naruto was in class acting like he cared, not really caring, as usual. He didn't care so much that he even fell asleep. You may be confused. After all, Naruto is always happy, isn't he? Well... If you've read other stories like this, then you know why he has it. Not to mention he hadn't slept well the previous night. Then Sakura got mad at him and woke him up. That nearly caused him to nearly just look at her with a what the f*** yet somehow not caring all too much look, but when he realized there were people around who could see him he quickly put back up his metaphorical mask. Yeah, his mask. Very 'original' I know. That last bit was sarcasm if you couldn't tell. Naruto whined, "Sakura! Why did you wake me up!" She then, as expected, replied, "Because..."She started slowly, and then she continued with, "WE ARE IN CLASS AND YOU SHOULD PAY ATTENTION!" Naruto briefly wondered how Sakura could get so loud as he started slowly leaning/falling to the side, something coming out his body, his soul probably. Then what is guessed was his soul returned to his body.

Iruka arrived just a few seconds later, and Sakura's previously tightened fist loosened as she then gave their sensei a polite good morning. Naruto then thought, 'teachers pet', but he didn't voice it. That's the thing, he hardly ever spoke or voiced his true thoughts. If he ever even let a bit of his mask fall, he would bet that it would only cause trouble. It was too much trouble. You could even say it was a drag. That's something Shikamaru might say, anyway. Speaking of him, sometimes Naruto felt they could be get along. Naruto would occasionally wonder if he could be the first to ever look past his mask. He may have seemed to not care enough to bother, but Naruto knew Shikamaru was more clever than he seemed. He thought they could get along because of their somewhat similar mindsets. Maybe even be friends. Then again, like mentioned earlier, Shikamaru probably wouldn't care. Not to mention they were still pretty different of cour "Naruto." -se. It makes him think of others who were different from what they seemed, like Hinata. Hinata was really shy and seemed to faint around him a lot, for some reason, but always tried her best to become a great ninja. He noticed she could be really clever too. Not to mention she was always nice to everyone, even him. But Naruto was not really friends with anyone. Well, exce- "Naruto!"

Naruto looked up to see one of his few friends Iruka, but he called him Iruka-sensei, and smiled. "Naruto!" Iruka said. "Oh! What do you need Iruka-sensei?" Naruto asked. Iruka replied with a sigh, and then said in a disappointed tone, "We were talking about stuff that you would know about if you were paying attention in class like you're supposed to, Naruto." He heard some snickers but ignored it, along with the urge to roll his eyes, as class returned and continued on as normal.

Once class was over, he walked through the village towards his apartment as he normally would, but he noticed something. On the wall, was a new poster. It was for a talent show. He could have ignored it, but he didn't. There were multiple copies, so he stuffed one in his pocket. He then continued on. As he went into his apartment, he thought about the poster. He told himself he didn't need to go to some talent show, but some part of him was urging him too. He then remembered he still had the poster with him and pulled it out. He thought it over as he scanned the small poster lazily. He thought he would decide in the morning. So he slowly drifted off to sleep.

                                                                                        . . .

He awoke to a normal day. His house was trashed, and he ate ramen! He then had to walk through the village. He made sure he was dressed, and left the apartment. He was walking when he felt it, their gaze- no. Glares. He gradually sped up into a run. The villagers then threw rocks at him and as he doged, one said it was like he was dancing. The villagers taunted him by saying things like, "Dance for us, it's the least you can do for being a monster," and "Put on a show for us, dirty fox!" As soon as he started bleeding, they seemed to Naruto to get discusted, and left.

                                                                                        . . .

His eyes opened. When did he... Oh. He remembered his dream. It was still a little early, and the sun was about to rise. He may have slept, but he felt like he hardly slept at all. As he thought about his dream and the poster, he decided on something. He was going to go through with it. He was already inspired on what to do. He just needed to practice for it.
