Richie Tozier, the top student at Harbour Secondary School known for being 6'2 and being a Trashmouth to some of the students, his best friend Beverly Marsh is model but also known as the town 'slut' because of her father. Richie has never been in trouble except for getting caught fighting with Victor Criss behind the school, speaking of school Richie was currently in school he was zoned out since he never paid much attention in class, then the sweet sound of freedom rang through his ears as the school bell went off announcing the end of the day, he stood up and grabbed his bag and walked into the most dangerous part of the school, the hallway, Richie had forgotten about his friend Beverly who he always met up with after class since he was planning on going home and calling his secret friend Eddie Kaspbrak, Richie and Eddie met in a group chat and had grown closer ever since they met, they stay up late and chat all night they're just two teen boys who really care about each other, although Richie will never admit it he is head over heels in love with Eddie, just mentioning his name could turn him into a pile of jello, suddenly the curly haired boy heard someone yell his name he turned around to see a girl with an a angelic face running towards him, her freckles were placed perfectly unlike Richie's freckles which covered his entire face, she had neat curly ginger hair, and blue eyes that shined brighter than the sun, although Richie did not have any romantic interest in Beverly he always said that he could admire beauty but not feel attracted to it, Richie had never experienced what true love was like until he met Eddie, Eddie lit his life up and everything became so vibrant, but Richie snaps back to reality.
"Hey! Asshole! You ditched me you little bitch!" Beverly finally caught up to him and elbowed him "thanks a lot," she sighed trying to catch her breath.
"Oh sorry about that Bevvy, I forgot about meeting up," Richie smiles which exposed the shiny metal braces that covered his teeth, he wrapped an arm around Beverly as they walked down the crowded hall together.
"Yeah right you just wanted to get rid of me asshole." The red headed girl scoffed and turned away from the much taller boy.
"What no I would never," Richie tilted his head back and laughed his black curly hair bounced when he laughed, it was common knowledge to everyone that Richie was gonna end up being a comedian and there was no doubt about it, most people thought his jokes were stupid though.
"Beep beep Trashmouth" Beverly sighed, she used the term 'beep beep' as a less harsh way of saying shut up since she knew that Richie gets told that too much and she didn't want to bother him, although Richie tries to act tough he's really just a cry baby who can't handle his emotions.
"Hey don't you have a date with that kid from the other secondary school across town? I think his name is Ben?" They escaped the dangerous halls and sat on a bench outside.
"Yup! That's him, he's so cute but our date isn't till later, but you should come over and you can help me get ready!" The excited girl smirked knowing this was an excuse to do Richie's makeup.
"Okay but I swear if you don't have snacks I'm leaving," he laughed and then stood up with Beverly and they walked to her house. On the way there they were gossiping and talking about the rumours going around in their class Richie's favourite was that Greta cheated on her boyfriend and slept with Victor Criss, though this behaviour may be seemed as unacceptable in some places it was perfectly normal at their school, people get bullied, harassed, and lots of other stuff daily, heck 90 percent of their class probably aren't virgins, though it wasn't any of their business since some of their classmates are already 18 due to it being a mix between juniors and seniors. They finally got to Beverly's house and she unlocked the door, she walked in quietly trying not to make any noise, Richie follows her and walks past her and goes straight to her bathroom knowing that's where Beverly keeps the makeup, Beverly walked into the bathroom and playfully punched Richie who was now sitting on the counter.
"Do we have any music Marsh?" Richie got off of the counter and Beverly rolled her eyes and took out her phone, she started playing their personal favourite song 'hit me baby one more time' by Britany Spears.
"Happy now?" Richie nodded in response as he was singing along, "hey idiot you still need to help me pick out an outfit."
"How about that floral dress, you know the red one with no straps?" Richie suggested as he was messing around, Beverly nodded and left the bathroom to go get changed leaving Richie alone in the bathroom, everything was fine until he remembered when he was in Beverly's bathroom back when she still lived with her dad, she now lives with her aunt but the memories came flooding back, he had been alone in Beverly's bathroom while she was getting changed to go out for a party, Beverly's dad had walked into the bathroom and saw Richie he insisted that Richie was there to have sex with 'his' little girl he assaulted Richie and he was left with bruises and cuts for weeks maybe even months, Beverly apologized to Richie so much after that incident.
"Tada!" Beverly walked back into the bathroom and did a spin which caused Richie to snap back to reality.
"Beautiful as always lovely Miss Marsh," he spun Beverly around and they both laughed, after Beverly had stopped laughing she started to do her makeup while having to deal with Richie's horrible singing when Material Girl came on since Richie was a huge Madonna fan. He also listened to ABBA and Justin Bieber which always made Beverly laugh she thought it was hilarious that Richie had the music taste of a cliché middle school girl.
"Okay I'm done!" Beverly smiled after finishing putting her lipstick on.
"Perfect, should I leave now?" Richie was eager to get home to call his best friend from Derry.
"Nope! We haven't done your makeup yet," Richie was about to run but Beverly held him down as she did his makeup which his strongly protested against.
"I hate you," Richie looked in the mirror although Beverly did spare him and do more natural makeup and nothing that was obvious.
"No you love me! Just admit that you're head over heels in love with me Tozier," she laughed quietly and elbowed Richie and he just elbowed her back, causing these two to get into a play fight which was very common for these two, after the fight Richie had to leave so he kissed Beverly and left, to them kissing and any thing people would see as romantic was just normal friendly interactions for them, Richie waved and then put his headphones on and walked down the street humming, he walked past a cafe that drew his attention he walked back at looked at the nicely lit up cafe decorated with fairy lights he wondered why he had never seen this place before, he shrugged and walked inside, it had a very homey feel to it, he sat down at a table and then a cute waiter that caught Richie's attention walked over to him.
"Hi I'm Mike Hanlon! Can I get you anything?" The waiter smiled, he looked exhausted.
"Yeah could I get two coffees, one with honey in it please and the other one however you like your coffee, afterwards come sit down, you look like you need a break," the waiter looked realized and smiled.
"Thank you sir I'll have to check with my Ma since she owns the place," he grinned and walked away to go get the coffee. Richie took out a sketch book from his backpack and started drawing some flowers that he saw around the shop, finally Mike came back with the coffees and he sat down across from Richie and smiled.
"So Mike, that's your name right?" Richie took a sip of his coffee.
"Yup that's me! And you are?" Mike tilted his head.
"Oh uh I'm Richie Tozier," Mike was currently taking a sip of his coffee but when Richie mentioned his name he nearly spat out his coffee.
"Richie?! Like Eddie Kaspbrak's Richie??" Richie looked shocked, how did Mike know about Eddie?
"How did you- are you one of his friends?" Richie questioned.
"Yeah! I moved here from Derry he would talk about you every single day, one sec I gotta tell him," Mike took out his phone and took a selfie with Richie.
"He did? Oh wow.." Richie looked down at his coffee and smiled a bit, he was blushing slightly he was honestly also glad that he met Mike.
"Anyways Richie, wanna be friends? I don't really have any yet and your the first kid my age to talk to me," Mike smiled at Richie, Mike was honestly very excited since he didn't have many friends back in Derry and he was bullied a lot.
"Of course! You can meet my two other friends someday as well they're really nice as well," Richie took another sip of his coffee, these two ended up talking for an hour and Richie completely forgot that he was supposed to call Eddie, he had so much fun talking to Mike, they talked about going out for a picnic near the park, to Richie Mike was like the father figure he never had in his life, his dad was always very absent he was always at work which left Richie alone a lot but his mom was always trying to be there for him he wouldn't say that his parents were bad parents but they were definitely absent in his life, Richie was glad that he stopped by otherwise he would've never met Mike he definitely loved Mike but not a romantic type of love it was like brotherly love, they were talking for hours and everyone had left, Mike stood up and offered a hand out to Richie which caused Richie to smile and took his hand he stood up, these two spent most of the night dancing around the cafe it was like how he danced with Bev except more energetic and exciting, they were laughing the entire time they were dancing after dancing for awhile they both went outside and sad on the front lawn of the cafe and star gazed, it was closer to the winter so the sun set early it was only about eight pm, Mike taught Richie about the constellations and different star signs before Mike got called back inside and Richie had to leave, he grabbed his backpack and sketch book and said goodbye to Mike then he left, he smiled the entire way home and was humming a sickly sweet tune just remembering the fun time he had with Mike until he realized he was supposed to call Eddie he started to run home, he finally got to his house and couldn't find his keys and started to panic until his mom opened the door with a confused look on her face.
"Richie? Where have you been I was worried sick, dinner is gonna be cold, make sure you eat something darling" Maggie Tozier was one of the sweetest moms out there.
"Okay Mom," Richie sighed and walked inside and quickly ate his cold food, his mother just stared at him in horror.
"Richie you're gonna choke, slow down please" Richie quickly finished his food.
"Thanks mom" he kissed his mom and ran upstairs to his room to see twenty missed calls from Eddie Kaspbrak "Shit."
