I wake up with a start and slam my head into the top of my bunk bed.
"Keep it down, would ya'?" Izzy hollered. She must have been having a good dream, because she was never cranky in the morning.
Rubbing my eyes, I scratched my head and tried to remember what woke me up.
I remembered sitting in Ms. Burns classroom by the blackboard. Kara and Jerry were sitting on either side of me, taking notes. I smiled to myself at the sight of Jerry, who, in kindergarten, could never keep his finger out of his nose.
I looked ahead I me and almost fell out of my chair. There, right in front of me, was Lisa Bradford in her bubble gun pink high tops. She and her group of... what's the nicest way to put this.... followers were the cruelest girls in school. If not, all of Pennsylvania.
If I did 1 thing to upset her, I would end up like Theresa Cueman eating lunch in the bathroom stalls for the rest of the year.
I gulped at the memory and glanced around the cabin. Everyone was sleeping except for Marissa and I, so I decided to slip out if bed.
Once out of my cabin, I sprinted to the nearest bathroom before I needed new pants.
While running, I tripped over the biggest possible tree root on the biggest possible tree down the biggest possible hill.
Tumbling down head first, I screamed and hoped that I wouldn't get severe brain damage.
Once I stopped, it felt like my brain was doing cartwheels. Brushing myself off, I continued on my journey to the bathroom.
When I arrived, Maddie , one of Lisa's followers, was hogging two mirrors and putting eyeliner on both if her eyes at the same time. I still have no idea how she does that.
She stopped dead in her tracks when she glanced at me through the mirror. She made a face like a skunk sprayed her hairbrush.
Rolling her eyes, she picked up her phone and texted something. I don't now how she got Jenna, our camp adviser, to let her have her phone. All electronic devices used for our entertainment were banned in the first day if camp.
"What are YOU doing here, Squirt?"
Squirt became my nickname in first grade when I came to school with a Finding Nemo lunch box.
I considered walking towards her, then decided not to risk it.
"Um... please don't call me that anymore. It's kind old an-"
"Shut up, Squirt!" she interrupted. "You should be grateful that you even HAVE a nickname. Not like you need the attention. All you do is make people notice you."
I gritted my teeth. "Like when?"
"Like, oh let me think, 2 minutes ago when you fell down that hill in your bunny slippies." she said, batting her eye lashes.
All the color drained out of my face. How did she know about that?
"What are you talking about?" I said, balling my fists to keep from hitting her.
She rolled her eyes and picked up her eyeliner. "Like I said, Squirt, all you do is bring attention to yourself. I didn't even have to try."
She wiggled her phone in front of my face just long enough for me to see what she was trying to show me. On the screen, there was a miniature teenager rolling down a hill at full speed, screaming as her stupid slippers fell off.
I gasped in horror when I figured out that the mini teenager was me. Lisa must have recorded me.
"Delete that!" I said, grabbing for her phone. She was at least a foot taller than me, so I looked like a child, scrambling to get his toy back from a too tall parent.
I grunted in desperation and snatched her eyeliner out of her hand.
"Ha!" I said, wagging it in front if her. She stopped laughing and pointed a pale finger in my face.
"You give that back right now, Squirt, or Ill make your like worse than Theresa's just like that." She snapped her fingers and reached for the eyeliner. I ran past her to lock myself into the handicapped stall.
Ignoring Maddie's commands, I plopped the eyeliner into the toilet and rested my fingers on the handle.
Remembering that I still had to pee and wasting water is bad for the environment, I did what I had to do and flushed.
Smiling at Mandie's reaction, I walked to the door and, as fast as I could, and swiped her phone from her hands.
"HEY! YOU CAN'T DO THAT! GIVE IT BACK NOW SQUIRT!"
I ignored her and pressed the power button. There was a beagle with a collar that said "princess" staring at me when I turned it on. I frowned at it and put in her password. Ever since third grade it had been "password". How dumb could she be?
It automatically let me in.
I was dumbfounded immediately when literally, 400 apps littered her home screen, all in different categories. I whistled and hovered my finger over the camera icon, when someone tackled me.
I screamed, the phone sliding out of my hands. Mandie had me pinned to the bathroom floor, her phone in hand.
"To late, Squirt!" she said. "I just sent the video to everyone of my contacts!"
Trying to seem cool, I shrugged and forced her off of me.
After brushing my teeth, all I wanted I do was see Kara, my best friend. I had known her for years, so we were very close.
Running out of the bathroom ASAP became my number one priority, and it would have been easier if Mandie wasn't blocking my way.
"Can you not?" I said, getting annoyed.
"Oh no, Squirt." she hissed. "You're not going anywhere. Not until Lisa gets here."
Sighing, I gave up and headed back into the handicapped stall. I sat on the toilet seat and tried to think of a way out besides the front door.
Suddenly, five girls walked through the front door.
I creeped up to the stall door and peeked through the cracks to see who was there .
Sure enough, Lisa and four other followers were standing in the door way, whispering to Mandie.
"She did WHAT?" I heard someone say. I rolled my eyes. It wasn't like they were going to do anything. Without her, Lisa's followers were brain dead.
Suddenly, I heard someone's fingers rapping against the stall door.
"Who is it?" I said, trying to make things better.
It didn't take me long to realize that I made things worse.
Out of nowhere, Lisa kicked down the door and stomped on my foot.
Hard.
I heard bones cracking and felt a piercing pain in my big toe. tears welling up in the corners of my eyes, I grabbed my left foot and hopped up and down, as if that would make the pain go away.
"What was THAT for?" I screamed at Lisa, who was smiling to herself.
"For wazzing on Maddie's favorite eyeliner," she said, rolling her eyes.
