The vampire court was in an uproar. The groups they had sent out were yet to return. It had been four days, five nights. Everyone was uneasy. That night they had sent the group of trained vampire entries out, the world had trembled. Something perilous had been awakened. Something as old as time. Something that could have the world at its mercy. Something that could exterminate them all if it wished to do so. And that was what made everyone all the more unnerved.
Prince Knight watched on the proceedings in pure disgust. His aunt and uncle were planning their next village attack. They were greedy for more shifters. For more 'breeding' tools. He loathed them for it. They should be creating alliances with the shifters, not using them to make horrid creations they wished to use in the fight against the humans.
He felt no guilt at having been the one to warn Alpha Xerxes of the attack his aunt had planned. In fact he rather enjoyed the company of the Alpha. They had been friends for the longest of times, and even though he was a vampire- the Alpha understood which side of the fence he had chosen. The right side. The side that didn't use innocents to make weapons to kill humans. He had seen one of the hybrids when they were fully grown and it still gave him the chills. It was as if the hybrids body didn't know which form to take. The genes were messed up, mostly because science was used to help the embryo form faster. But he felt sorry for them. They were unnatural freaks this family had created.
They didn't live long either. They died after at least five years of life. The longest a hybrid had lived was ten years, but once it had reached full potential it had died a bloody, painful death.
"The Lord of Bridgestone will take the next group to Alpha Bain's territory. He's still licking his wounds after the humans attacked him last week. It's the perfect opportunity. And this time we'll be grabbing the warriors." His uncle spoke with a serious facial expression on his face.
"We already have plans for the trap set up and once he reaches the furthest village, Lord of Bridgestone will begin its preparation. The warriors are stronger and breeding with them will be a step-up. Genes will be stronger." His aunt finished.
He avoided the urge to hurl. The vampires forced themselves on any captives, he could only imagine how the shifters will to live after birthing hybrids diminished. A warriors honour would be greatly destroyed. Prince Knight had heard of many shifters taking their lives. It still made him clench his teeth in anger.
How heartless could one be to force themselves on an innocent woman, child, man?
He was surprised his aunts spawn hadn't tried their hand at raping the shifters too. Perhaps they thought they were above such things. He snorted inwardly. They were as low as the dirt on the ground they walked on.
"Have any reports come in from the spies we sent to Alpha Xerxes territory yesterday?"
Oh, this he hadn't heard of.
"No majesties, the spies will be arriving shortly though. And when they do, you will be the first I notify." The head of security spoke up.
"We'll wait here then. I believe the cook has prepared our luncheon meal already."
Knight couldn't wait to hear what the spies had to say.

"Your majesties, lords, ladies." The spy bowed his head in respect.
"What news have you?"
The vampire cleared his throat. "Our men have been massacred. They had escaped into the forest when Alpha Xerxes charged into the village. Beasts roam that forest, majesties. The remains after feasting on our men, are scattered on its border."
"What?!" The vampire king hissed his anger.
"The forest is crawling with beasts unknown. The villagers were whispering about the events. The shifters that had gone in were, too, preyed on."
The king and queen sunk into their seats. Thoughtful expressions in place. Nothing good came out of their mouths when this happened. Prince Knight held his breath.
"Can the beasts be brought onto our side?"
The spy paled. "N-no majesties. There is no humanity left in them."
"Hmmm." The queen grinned. "We could always capture them, and bring them here. Perhaps we could have them breed with the shifters."
Knight really had to hold down the bile traveling up his throat. This woman was just as bonkers as an idiot. He wondered how his mother was even remotely related to the beastly vampire.
When lunch was finished Knight excused himself. He would be returning home to meet Alpha Xerxes. They made it mandatory to meet in the woods behind Knights mansion. It was secluded and unwanted ears couldn't get close enough without being caught by Knights elite guard.
He was happy to finally be leaving the hell hole his aunt and uncle called home.
