It was late afternoon when Knight arrived at the woods. The beautiful pinks and oranges that spread across the sky the only guiding light he had as he padded through all sorts of tree canopies. He could feel in the air that something was different. That something was soon to happen, but nothing gave the idea it would be bad. So he walked straight toward the meeting place, his concerns left behind him.
A figure leaned against a tree, hood hiding any evidence of who or what was beneath it. But the power and knowledge it contained was seeping through the air, barely trying to hide itself. Seated on a stone some feet away from the hooded person, Alpha Xerxes stared at the hooded figure with awe.
He turned to face Knight, a smile on his face as his friends approached. Standing to his full height, he met Knight half way.
"I thought you'd never make it."
"I was staying with the crazed family for some time, I left extremely late. Apologies." Knight hugged Xerxes.
"We arrived rather late as well, so it's quite alright. I needed to catch my breath." Xerxes glanced towards the hooded figure, expecting them to have a reaction. "Thank you for the warning, Knight, you saved many shifters."
"It's the least-"
"Knight Brevard, isn't it?" The female voice whispered along his skin, a soft caress that set his body burning.
He turned towards the now approaching hooded figure and breathed in the scent surrounding them. It was a female. An ancient, authoritative scent that held dominance in it. He didn't know if you could even describe a scent that way.
"Yes, that is what I am called." He felt inclined to bow his head, but held himself upright.
The woman stopped before him, lowering her hood to reveal an ethereal face. The woman was from another time, another place- and she held his stare with magnificent eyes of gold. He recognised those eyes. They had haunted his dreams for years. Just those beautiful globes that shone like embers in a fire.
And he felt even more breathless.
Her hair, he'd always tried to imagine what colour it would be. But his thoughts never came close. Her hair was the same golden colour as her eyes. And it looked silky to the touch. He imagined himself running his hands through her hair as she lay draped across him. He could already feel its softness.
"The gods said we would one day meet. I just never knew when."
Knight was taken aback by her words. The Gods had told her about him? Where they the ones who had sent him those dreams? His confusion was spiraling.
"Then it would seem that the Gods have only been conversing with you. Please forgive my rudeness, but may I request your identity?"
Her eyes swept down his body; studying his physique, tattoo markings and clothing. "The gods communicate in many ways, not just by talking. They send signs, dreams, thoughts- it's up to us how we interpret them." She turned her gaze to Xerxes then back to Knight. "My name, Knight Brevard, is Eve. The first of the witches and the last of the witches to have ever been created. My bloodline is an extinct one. Yours, however, is still intact. But for how long?"
His spine shot up, a buzz flowing through his veins. The last witch was the first ever created witch by the gods. She was as old as time.
"You are the one who created us. Shifters, Vampires, Faeries, Elves, and all other magical beings." His heart was pounding in his chest.
"I aided the gods in their creations, yes. Not all creations were done without sacrifice. Lucifer for one received much interest during this time. He won many followers and allegiances from the different species. But so did the moon goddess."
