Eighteen

The weekend was spent talking about the baby. Ainsley cried when she found out, which made it a little more special. She couldn't wait to be a big sister, because for the longest time she was the baby.

"I can feel it moving!" Ainsley smiled, as she stood in front of her mother and felt as her baby brother or sister move inside of her mother's bump.

"Yeah, moving around like a crazy person." Olivia smiled softly, as she reached out and caressed her daughter's hair.

"When can we find out what it is?" Ember asked, from where she was sitting with her sister at the table while Trevor did some prep on his closing argument.

"On Tuesday. Daddy will be home and we will all go to my appointment and find out together." Olivia smiled. Ainsley skipped away from her mother and went and climbed onto Trevor's lap to annoy him.

"I hope it's a boy." Ember sighed, as Olivia joined them at the table.

"You do? I want another sister." Adalee spoke.

"What about you, Trev? What do you want?" Olivia smiled, and her husband closed his folder before smiling at his girls.

"In the end, I just want the baby to be healthy. I just want both Mom and baby to come out healthy and strong." Trevor smiled. Olivia blinked away a few tears before standing slowly and move to her husband. She leaned down and kissed his lips gently before smiling.

"I cannot believe that I'm this lucky. I get you, my three amazing girls, and whatever this baby is going to be."

On Tuesday, after the girls were out of school and Olivia was off of work, they headed to Olivia's OBGYN's office to find out what the baby was. Olivia was anxious to find out because this pregnancy had gone so much smoother than her other two had gone. She didn't know if it was just because Trevor was the father or what, but she just wanted to know. 

"I can see that we have a full house today." The tech smiled, as she joined Olivia and the rest of the family in the room.

"I'm sorry, it's just that we haven't had this big of a thing happen in awhile. The girls all just found out last week and now we just want to know if there is going to be another girl joining our family or a boy." Olivia explained with a smile on her lips. 

"Do you have bets on what you think this baby is?" The tech teased, and Trevor smiled from where he was holding Ainsley on his lap. The little girl was squirming because all she wanted to know if she was getting a baby brother or sister.

The family said what each one of them wanted, but Olivia was told to lay back. She rolled her shirt up and quickly reached for a hand to hold while they waited. She expected to hold Trevor's, but then she found herself holding Ember's and she smiled at her stepdaughter as she drew her hand to her lips and gave it a gentle kiss.

"Alright, so here is the baby's head and it is sucking its thumb at the moment." The nurse spoke, as Trevor leaned close to Ainsley and told her that the baby takes after her. Ainsley giggled before leaning forward to try and see what was on the screen. She didn't see exactly what everyone else could.

"And can you see what it is?" Olivia asked.

"Depends if you guys truly want to know." The tech smiled.

"We do!" Adalee exclaimed.

"It's a boy. A beautiful baby boy."

"He already looks like you." Olivia breathed, as she looked at the sonogram of her son's profile. Olivia looked down at her husband who was laying with his head on her legs as he ran his hand over his wife's swell.

"I guess it's good that I'm pretty then, huh?" Trevor smiled, and Olivia rolled her eyes as she sat the sonogram picture down before reaching down and running her hands through her husband's hair.

"I'm excited to have a son. I have always wanted one, and now I get one." Olivia breathed, as she felt her baby moving around under where Trevor's hand was resting.

"When Angie was pregnant, I was sure that Ember was going to be a boy. We had a name picked out that was a boy's name, and we had bought a lot of boy clothes. But then when Angie went into labor, Ember came out breech and we saw what she was before we even saw her face. Even if I had wanted a boy so badly when I saw my baby girl everything changed." Trevor spoke and Olivia smiled.

"Trevor, now you are getting a son. He's going to have be tough because his siblings are all girls." Olivia smiled.

"I still feel weird." Trevor breathed, before leaning close and pressing a kiss to his wife's swell.

"What feels weird?" Olivia asked.

"Everything. From the fact that we are having a kid together... to talking about Angie." He frowned.

"Babe, it's kinda late to feel weird about our baby. Especially since he's going to be here in 19 weeks." Olivia spoke.

"Olivia, I miss Angie," Trevor whispered. Olivia nodded slowly before leaning close and hugging her husband tightly.

"I think that maybe it's time you tell me more about her. She is the reason why we have Ember." Olivia spoke but Trevor shook his head as he broke the embrace and grabbed his pillow.

"I don't... no. She was my first love and I don't want to talk about her to my new wife... it just feels wrong." Trevor breathed, he moved quickly from the room as Olivia stared at him in confusion.

"Well then." She sighed before slipping down under the blankets to try and sleep.

After Trevor left the next morning, Olivia made the girls breakfast before sending the younger two to get dressed while Olivia watched Ember finish her breakfast.

"Ember?" Olivia asked.

"Yeah?" The girl smiled.

"I don't want to overstep... but I was wondering if you could tell me a few things about your mother?"

"Why?" Ember questioned.

"Because your father is really missing her right now, and I want to help him in whatever way I can." Olivia breathed. Ember nodded before taking her bowl over to the sink and placing it in it.

"She was a lot like you, Olivia. Incredibly nice, smart, and very understanding. She was the best mother in the world, and I'm just thankful that I have the second-best raising me now." Ember smiled.
