Brooks on the side >> just more Aussie looking haha

--------

I choked on my own saliva, "wh-what?" I said in confusion, surely he was lying, I mean look at him, he was gorgeous, "tell me you are lying."

He looked so serious then his face cracked, "Of course I have had dopey, are you kidding me look at me I am a looker sweet talking son of a gun," he said quoting one of my favourite song.

"Ah I see you haven't changed Brooks," I said with a role of my eye.

I put my last pair of boots in the wardrobe. I let out a sigh. I was done, officially unpacked. I planed on staying on the farm for a few month get up my experience on livestock until I could start the UNI at Wagga. I had got my acceptance letter I just had to wait till the school year started.

Brooks and I had stayed up late just talking. When he left I decided to call up Hayley. I hadn't spoken to her in month and maybe we could go out and do something, catch up.

I pressed her caller ID and it rang.

BRING

BRING

And on the last ring it picked up and a mans voice answer.

"Hallop, said a deep voice.

"Um hello is Hayley there?" I asked.

"Yeah she is right here, and who may this be?" the voice asked.

"This is Audrey Ison and you are?"

"Dustin, here is Hayley." he said passing the phone. Wow I cant believe those to are still together.

"Hey Hayley it Audrey, remember me," I said with a small laugh.

"Oh my gosh Audrey you sound so different, like an american cowboy, very sexy," she replied with her own laugh.

"Haha thanks tell that to the boys, they seem scarce round here."

"Ha you need to look closer, Brooks hasn't shut up about you since you left, I hog tied him once and tied him to the yards he got so annoying."

I laughed with tears in my eyes, "good to see someone kept him in check while I was gone," trying to avoid the topic of my past with Brooks, "so you and Dustin still going strong I see."

"Ha yeah we still are, we should catch up soon, there is a Rodeo coming up this weekend we could go?"

"Haha sounds good, its been a while since I've been to a rodeo, I should enter," I said and she agreed. We organised this weekend and then she hung up. Tomorrow was Tuesday so I had all week to get Denny back in shape, I wouldn't be into win it just a bit of fun.

Tomorrow I planed on going into town to pick up my packages, my saddles and gear, then I could start preparing.

I got up early before everyone, about 4 and started cooking breaky. I finished, helped my self to a bacon and egg role before putting the rest in the oven to keep warm and left a note saying that read:

Going in to town, breaky in the oven.

It was 4:30 when I left for the long hike to town.

It was around Lunch when I made it back I done the groceries while I was in town and had bumped into a few people and had a chat, mainly people that new my mother.

I unpacked my groceries, stuff like Nutella and wafers and Blue ribbon ice cream.

I was reaching up the top shelf when I felt hands wrap around my waist from behind.

"Your back," Brooks whispered in my ear.

I went stiff, trying not to enjoy his touch it had been so long, "Brooks what are you doing?"

He suddenly let go sensing my tenseness, "Sorry," he said dropping his head.

"Brook you realise we cant just go back to they way we were 4 years ago, it just doesn't work like that we were young. It was nothing but puppy love. I'm sorry but I don't feel that way towards "

I looked up at him and he looked like I had kick a puppy. I felt so bad but he needed to hear the truth.

"I know, your right."

And with that I left to go saddle denny up.

I worked with Denny for what felt like forever, he was a good horse, but I fear just not cut out for the Rodeo he needed more time. Leaving my hopes behind me I would keep working on him tomorrow and hopefully we would get it. It was dark when I dismounted. After I was finished untacking and washing down I headed back to the house and had tea. Joe cooked a roast dinner. We ate in silence. I noticed Uncle Joe look a little bit under the weather, his face lost the blush in his cheeks and the bags under his eyes. I said nothing, knowing that he would just dismiss it any way.

I excused my self from the table, utterly exhausted jet lag starting to kick in, and headed up to my room. My eyes closed before I could even hit the pillow.
