Episode 10: The Final Race against Time

Areion closed his eyes tightly to avoid being blinded from the light which suddenly radiated from the Chaos Emeralds, then the next he knew that he was suddenly floating in midair snd wasn't able to touch the ground. It took a while until he felt his feet touching the ground and the light faded much to his relief.

"I guess I can finally opened my eyes now." Areion did just that...and his eyes widened in shock at what he was looking at "what the hell, what is this place?" he recognized the place where he is standing to be the altar where Princess Elise stood on during the Soleanna Sun Festival but around him was nothing but darkness so far as the eye can see and above was some sort of void made of white light.

"Areion..." he turned to se Silver standing next to him.

"Silver, I guess you got dragged here too. What happened to the Chaos Emeralds?" Areion asked.

"The Chaos Emeralds have disappeared, it must have been that flash of light before we ended up here." Silver said.

"Silver?" The duo turned to see Tails, Knuckles, and Amy approaching them.

"Amy? What are you doing here? This all confusion." Silver said.

"You and me both." Areion said in agreement.

"It is because of Solaris." This time it was Rouge, Shadow, and Omega who were walking to them.

Dr. Eggman was next to show up. "It seems we were all caught by the spatial distortion. Iblis' seal has been broken."

Areion's eyes widened in shock. "What?! But how?!"

"It was all due to Mephiles' manipulation."

The group turned to see Elise cradling Sonic, Areion realized something was wrong is quickly moved towards them and held Sonic's wrist to check his pulse only for his blood to run cold at his discovery.

"No...not again." Areion muttered brokenly.

"No...it...it cant be!" Emerl was now shaking in disbelief.

"Areion, what's wrong with Sonic?" Tails asked worriedly.

"Sonic is...dead, I don't the pulse of his heart."

Everyone stood there emotionally struck by the news which he just said.

"It can't be, there's just no way!" Knuckles shouted in denial, Amy just fell on her knees and broke into tears.

"How did this happened?" Tenga asked.

Elise sniffled a bit before talking. "It was when Sonic rescued me from Eggman's ship and we were returning to Soleanna..."

**Flashback Start**

Sonic and Elise were walking through the forest when they heard a humming sound coming from behind them.

"What's that sound?" Elise asked

They turned around to see a purple Chaos Emerald floating in the air before them much to their surprise.
"A Chaos Emerald, what's it doing here?" Sonic said.

Suddenly the Chaos Emerald shined brightly at the point of blinding them. There was a whooshing sound before Sonic cried out in pain as Elise turned around to see an energy beam piercing through him from behind...and the source of the attack was none other than Mephiles. The dark being withdrew his attacks and Sonic fell to the ground with Elise running towards his prone form.

"Sonic! Sonic! Please wake up!" Elise said pleadingly while shaking the blue hedgehog, she rolled him over only for his hand to fall to the ground and conforming her worst fears. "No...no...it can't be that he's...he's." tears began to well up at her eyes as the voice of her father resounded in her mind.
