Chapter 1

Jake

Jake was born with Social Phobia and Bipolar Depression. He had dark brown hair, wore glasses, and eyes that changed between green, brown, and hazel. He was very pale for a normal child. The only thing that made him happy was horse-riding and playing video games. His mom always told him his dad died in the navy, but something told him she was lying. He didn't like talking to people besides his only friend, Leo. his family owned a barn with horses, mules, and donkeys. His family seemed to all have an odd connection to horses.

Jake stepped into the barn. As he expected, voices. Anytime Jake went near a barn, or horses for that matter, there were voices. It was as if they were speaking to him, but Jake was used to it. He had fed the horses, as usual. Afterward, he got his favorite horse, Ebony, and brought her outside. He was practicing for a horse race coming up soon. He placed a saddle up on her back. He jumped up onto her and starting riding. But there was something about the way she was moving. She was shaking and was walking crooked. Jake stopped the horse.

"What's wrong, girl?" He asked. Ebony snorted and shook its head. He hopped off the horse and went in front of her. He pet her right between the eyes, her favorite spot. The horse seemed to calm down, but her entire body was still shaking. Then, there was a black flash coming from the woods, followed by a loud 'BANG!'. He looked over. Ebony jumped up on her hind legs and she ran into the woods. He ran after her, not letting her out of his sight.
