I was given a new case to investigate. A woman was found dead from a gunshot to the left temple on the head on the side of a road outside of the town of [REDACTED]. She had no ID on her or any possessions nearby. When I saw the woman, she looked...almost at peace. If it wasn't for the bullet hole, I would've thought she was asleep. She wore a long Gothic dress, according to a female coworker, from the renaissance faire. It was bizarre, since the faire isn't open yet for another month. I have to look into IDing the body, for now the body was named Jane Doe.

So our Jane Doe is IDed and she is Jessica Malorie. Funny thing with this woman is that she was reported missing nearly 30 years ago at the age of 25. She doesn't look like she even aged a day since her disappearance. We looked into possible plastic surgery, but the coroner has doubts she did. This is really strange. I can try contacting family.

I was able to contact her twin sister who was in hysterics. We asked her questions about her sister, which she said that she was always so happy and did well in school. She had a teaching degree and was teaching at [REDACTED] Middle School as an English teacher before she disappeared. I feel like something was missing so I pressed a bit further. I have written down the interview that we recorded.

Reese: Miss Malorie, when we found her, she didn't seem older than 25. Did she ever talk about facial surgery or the like?

Miss Malorie: No, Jess really wasn't bothered by the thought of aging or anything. She did wear makeup and made herself look nice, but nothing unusual for woman her age at the time.

Reese: What about changes? How she acted or something?

Miss Malorie, quiet for a few seconds: She...did start going out more once she turned 21. Before this, she was never the party-goer, but when she failed some classes in college, she started going out to bars. Our mother and I were seeing her less and less, seeing the occasional picture of her. She was...a little pale, probably from not going out in the sun much, and then she dyed her hair from her natural brown to black. Then she dyed a stripe of red in her hair after it got a lot longer when she turned 25. It was almost like she wasn't my sister anymore. (She started crying at this point and my supervisor gave her a tissue) Thank you.

Reese: With such a drastic change in personality, what happened before it? Besides the college classes?

Miss Malorie, quiet while she thought: She did go into a depression like state for a time, but we stood by her and she got better. I'm sorry, I really need to go. My youngest needs to be pickup from school.

My supervisor then led her out of the interrogation room, sending her on her way. Sudden personality changes? From a normal college student to a party girl? That's not normal.

I dug a little deeper into this case, just said it in passing and Chief Howard directed me to the library. He said something about this case reminding him of one from years ago. This...this is crazy. There were others just like this. The person was in a low depression, then their personality would change. For woman it would be parties, drugs, alcohol, sex. For men, it was...weirder. They turned to dealing drugs, being pimps, or overall assholes. But this would then just...end? They disappear for years, only to wind-up dead somewhere (of different causes), yet they never aged a day. This strange and I aim to figure it out.
