LEXI
I woke up to the sound of my alarm screaming at me, begging me to get up and turn it off. I rolled out of my warm comforter and shivered as the cold, still breeze of the air in the room hit my sensitive bare skin. I walked to my bathroom and applied my usual makeup, classy but sassy. I straightened my long brown hair, making my natural highlights really shine.
"What should I wear today..." I asked myself, padding over to my closet. I picked a long sleeved white button up and black work pants. I cuffed my sleeves below my elbow and strutted back into my bathroom and put on a nice pink and silver necklace to complete. I went back to my room and slipped on my nude heels and got my black purse where I found my gum, money, keys, and phone waiting for me. I walked outside and hopped in my little black car, driving to the office. I'm a college student at UW working part time at a psychologists office to see how it is. I'm only 19 but they made an exception for me because I already had my bachelor degree in psychology. When I got to the office I left my car and walked in to the building where I met the front desk, and showed the boring receptionist my plastic ID card. She let me in and I scurried to Dr. Young's room and opened the polished wood door. He looked up and smiled,
"Ah Lexi, how are you?"
"Good, thank you." I answered politely.
"Fantastic..." He started, "I have a new patient coming in, his name is Harry Styles." I nodded at his response and sat in my chair, still focused on what Dr. Young was saying.
"He was raped by his father at age 11, his mother died in a car crash when he was 15, and his Aunt abused him until about a week ago..." He continued reading off a list.
"How old is he?" I asked curiously.
"20." Dr. Young days scanning his clip board.
"And when is his appointment?" I asked eagerly, wanting to meet this boy with tragedy riddled in him.
"In about... 2 minutes." Dr. Young said squinting at the clock. Just then we heard a knock at the door, two hard knocks.
"Come in." Dr. Young said in a soothing voice. I intently watched the door as it creaked open, revealing a tall boy with bouncy brown curls and piercing green eyes. He was beautiful, how could someone ever hurt him?
"Hello Harry." I smiled, it was my job to make them feel more comfortable so they wouldn't be afraid to talk about their feelings and hide how they really are. Harry stood in the doorway and looked at me, he cocked his head to the right and have me a blank expression.
"Please, sit down." Dr. Young offered. Harry's jaw tightened and I could sense he was very uneasy and vulnerable. He made his way to a chair by me and shakily sat down in it. He looked at me and let his eyes scan every inch of me that was showing, he went back up to my eyes and I swear his eyes turned a softer green.
"So Harry, how are you? Where are you living?" Dr. Young asked the basic questions while I clicked my pen ready to write. Harry looked down at his hands and started to fiddle with his thumbs, he glanced up and let out a shaky breath.
"I'm... ok. And I- I am staying in a...erm... Hotel at the moment." He stuttered, choking on every word.
"Are you there alone?" I asked looking Harry straight in the eyes. He looked at me and winced.
"I'm always alone."
