The young girl stoped walking once she reached the edge of the forest. Watching as the trees swayed back and forth with the undying wind. Spotting all the watchful eyes from the creatures at night. Every single inch of this forest is alive and she knew that even before coming. From the tiny beetles scavenging the ground to the huge trees reaching out their branches to grab anything that made the mistake of walking to close.
The black of night casts haunting shadows across the jungle of trees. Letting nothing shine brighter then the muted gray color created from the full moons glow. She gazes longingly into the night sky, observing that tonight there are no stars in the sky. The only light to shine through the darkness comes from the beautiful moon.
Forcing whatever fear she once had down into the pit of her stomach she wanders into the forest. The dark begins to slowly surround her as she edges deeper into the woods. She starts to rethink why she chose to come but cannot recall why. Being unable to spot incoming danger and dying seems likely in this strange forest. She remembers all of the stories told about this place and starts to tremble. All the tales of people who entered but never came out.
Once the choice had been made and she wasn't one to go back and ask for do overs, she summoned up whatever courage she could and continued walking. The girl didn't stop walking, she marched past the small bushes and huge trees that always creaked making her shake, past the small but shockingly silent pond with not even one ripple on the waters surface, past the cave which was home to a family of sleeping bears, and still she kept walking.
The young girl watched as her final destination appeared and knew immediately what she had to do. She made her way to the cliffs edge and looked down into the rushing water of the river. Butterflies bursted in her stomach and she suddenly became incredibly frightened. The feelings soon disappeared once a cool breeze whistled on by blowing her hair behind her.
Taking one last look over her shoulder back towards the trees, back towards the mysterious forest casting it's strange shadows and calling all those creatures to come and take refuge within its boarders. The forest is their final home, their final resting place from this cruel world full of hunters and killers. She smiles with the thought and then jumps.
