Knife

I sit alone in the dark cell. Thinking of what I've done. all only because of a woman. The warden unlocks my cell, I knew what was coming. they guided me through the darkness. They guided me to a room, I trembled. Fear strucked me, hard. tears falling down my cheeks as I remember what happened. I remembered it like it was yesterday.

"Class, there's a new girl that is going to be joining us starting today" said mrs. Ang, my Maths teacher. "come in and introduce yourself" added her. I was paralyzed, her eyes strucked my heart, her hair swept my mind. she was the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. "hi, I'm Sophia, im from Australia, but I was born here" she said with voice that's smoother than silk. I fell in love, at first sight. "Sophia, you can sit besides Nadia, there" said mrs. Ang, pointing the empty place. I spent the whole Maths class stalking her, I thought of many lines in my head,most of them are cheesy. "what you doin there? Ooo, stalking the new girl, eh" said joseph, my friend. "you like that new girl ah" said Joseph with his chinese accent. I ignored him, I always do but we always have been close, he always have been tere for me. "if you like the girl, approach her, just be yourself" said Joseph. "I will" .

The whole day was spent by many failed attempts of approaching Sophia. shame. "you're not so brave as I thought" said Joseph. "well you try to talk to her if u can" . Joseph grinned "there she is" pointed Joseph. he chased Sophia, i saw Joseph spoke to Sophia and then I saw Joseph pointing me with his index finger. Sophia smiled and walk towards me. Joseph was laughing. "hi" said Sophia. "h-hi" I stared at her eyes, for too long. I looked down "sorry" I apologized. She smiled and took my hand. she wrote something on my hand, it was her number. I was so happy and shy that I was speechless. on that day, my life changed, we grew closer. A month after that day I finally had the guts to make her my girlfriend.

It's been a year, a step closer to the finals. It's the last year of school. Me and Sophia studied hard, we promised to work together, she wanted to be a lawyer, and I thought that I will too.we promised to be together till the end. We always did study groups. but life isn't all that fair. I aced my finals while Sophia didn't. I never saw her after results day.

I still remember sending voice messages "Sophia, I got a job Sophia, I can afford to take care of us now, please answer" . I was jubilant with my success in life but in the same time I'm morose. "I miss you sophia" . I bought a ring, to prepare for a proposal that was very unlikely to happen. I bought the ring everywhere I went, maybe I've gone mad.

Then one day, I went to the bookstore to buy some stationaries. as I was looking through the store, I saw something, something unexpected. "Sophia!" I called. the same hair that swept my mind away. it really was her. "hi..Umm..what are you doing here?" Said Sophia, shocked, like she has seen a ghost. " aren't you glad to meet me? Where have you been? I miss you so much...I have a job now sophia, im a lawyer now like we promised...that we would work together and live together...till the end I even bought this ring for you, for us" i kneeled down. Sophia was crying, "Sophia will you marry me?". "Mommy, why is this guy holding your hand?" Asked a boy out of The blue. Sophia didn't say a word, she was crying, not tears of joy. "who is this boy Sophia?" Tears rushing down my face. "when I got my results, my parents were really disappointed, they expected me to be successful..but I didn't turn out so good...sorry, they arranged a wedding between me and my cousin... he is a doctor..they did it to secure my future...im sorry" said Sophia. "what about us" . "what about our promises?" I grabbed Sophia's son's shoulder "I loved you" I banged the boys head repeatedly on te floor "I loved you!" I screamed, I was manipulated by anger,sadness. "stop! Stop!" Begged Sophia while pushing me. the shop owner and some other guys tackled me. on the ground, crying, staring in her eyes. Sophia's son's head was bleeding, he wasn't breathing. "I loved you" I screamed at sophia.

And now here I am, seconds away to death. the door opened and the rope was there, hanging from the ceiling, waiting to hold my neck till I die. tears rushing down my cheeks like rivers. my body was shaking, like an earthquake. the rope surrounded my neck. " so much for love" .
