A week later...
Hux stood facing Ben he had grown to love there sparing sessions he ignited his saber, beautiful emerald light cast across his face and along the black floors.
Ben watched him carefully before he ignited his own lightsaber, lighting his half of the room in crimson.
Hux's sea foam green with a splash of battleship gray eyes studied the dark knight before him, looking for a weakness, a venerability in his opponent. He had never claimed victory in one of their duals and he strived to be worthy of his father's saber.
Ben squinted slightly, daring Hux to make the first move.
Hux rolled his eyes knowing how hard headed Ben was if he didn't begin this dual then it would never start waiting no longer for the battle to commence Hux ran forward sliding to his knees as he reached Ben and hitting the back of Ben's leg hard with the butt of his lightsaber.
Ben's leg buckled slightly, but he pivoted to face Hux, swinging his lightsaber towards him.
Hux blocked it with ease then moved his blade to cut though the air towards Ben's legs.
Ben jumped over his lightsaber, using the Force to lift higher than he would be able to jump on his own.
Hux moved his blade slicing upward towards his shoulder.
Ben stepped aside easily to dodge it, then he quickly swung his lightsaber at Hux.
Hux lifted his lightsaber just in time, unfortunately by doing so there sabers where now lock causing them to come face to face and in a battle with the dark warrior that was the worst place to be. No hiding, no dodging.
The duel became a battle of strength, which came as an advantage to Ben.
Hux was soon thrown back by Ben's strength stumbling to the ground.
Ben pointed his lightsaber at Hux's chest. "Do you surrender?"
"That depends would you kill me if I don't?" Hux smirked.
"Of course not... but it would prevent any further injuries on your part."
Hux rolled his eyes annoyed with the fact that he could never win "alright you win again" Hux sighed.
Ben offered his hand to Hux to help him up from the floor, and as a sign of friendship and good sportsmanship.
"I'll beat you once I promise" Hux sighed.
"Fifteen minutes, you're improving Owen," Rey said. She had been timing their duels and he had greatly improved over the past week. She had heard Ben call him Owen... his real name and she soon began to do so as well.
"Thank you Rey at least one of you is a good teacher" he said teasingly as he bumped Ben in the side playfully.
Ben shook his head at his teasing.
"Now you see why I didn't agree when he offered to teach me," Rey answered joining in.
"Yeah what can we expect though he was trained by Luke."
Rey nodded, her face became serious. "I'm sorry that you had to go through that Ben."
He nodded solemnly.
Rey took his hands and looked into his eyes. "He would never tell you this, but he felt a lot of guilt because of what he did, that was why he disconnected himself from the force and lived as a hermit. He couldn't forgive himself for what he caused."
Ben let a small tear fall from his eye. "I thought that if I became like Darth Vader, he would finally think I was worth saving."
"What you really thought that?" Hux said tears threatening to stain his cheeks.
"Yes," Ben whispered.
"Well it doesn't matter what he thinks, everyone's worth saving, everyone deserves a second chance.....you more then anyone I've ever met" Hux replied.
"So do you Owen, you're becoming very much like the man your father once was. The Luke my mother always spoke of."
Hux smiled "thank you."
