At the end of the week, I finally get approved for the perfect apartment. The complex is allowing me to move in next weekend, which is amazing because I was worried it would take a month to sign an agreement.
When I tell Eleanor and Heath about it, Heath gives me a strange look and says, "That's a college apartment."
"What? Because it's near the campus?" I shrug. "It's a college town, of course there will be some college students."
He shakes his head. "That one has more than the rest because of where it's located. Are you ready for that?"
"I'm sure it'll be fine," I say with a laugh. "I'll mind my own business and they'll leave me be."
"I don't know," Eleanor says. "A soon-to-be single new girl on the block might get you more attention than you think."
Single. That's right. I'm going to be single soon. Well, at least once the paperwork is filed. I spoke with a couple lawyers to get an idea of what to expect and how to get the process started. Once I move into the apartment and get settled in, I'll get the ball rolling.
Rolling my eyes, I tell her, "Doubtful. I have zero interest in being a frat boy's booty call."
"You never know."
Shaking my head, I try to get back on topic. "Anyways, I have to get more boxes and rent a U-Haul and buy some pizza for—"
"Okay, we get it," Eleanor says. "It's going to be an old-fashioned dorm room move in."
I narrow my eyes at her. "Are you just about done with the college commentary?"
She holds up a finger. "One more. Don't bother hiring any movers, just hold up a 'free beer' sign outside your new apartment."
"Thanks." I get up from the breakfast table. "May I be excused, Jerry Seinfeld?"
She laughs as I leave the room. I go upstairs to the guest room and flop onto the bed. There's so much to do, so much happening all at once. I'm about to be an unattached woman living on her own while trying to make a career for herself. It's brand new for me since I've never lived alone. I spent my college years sharing dorms with friends, then moved in with Scott right after graduating.
This whole divorce thing is giving me much more than I anticipated.
Including that unexpected kiss from Blaine earlier this week.
Ever since that sexually charged moment in his office I've been avoiding any unnecessary contact or conversation with Blaine. Partly out of embarrassment, but mostly because if I let my guard down it might happen again.
Which is exactly what I want, even though I shouldn't.
Needing to get my mind off my hot boss, I whip out my phone and send a message to Caleb to let him know when I'll be moving. I'm not sure if Scott would be okay with him helping me or not, but it's worth a shot. I don't really have many people to help me move. It's just me and Heath, with Eleanor the comedian supervising.
My phone buzzes and I pull up Caleb's message.
If you need help I'm still game.
Did you get approval from Scott? I ask him.
Indeed I did!
I let out a sigh of relief. Thank goodness Scott is willing to allow his brother to help his soon to be ex-wife.
Good! You can come over Saturday morning. I give him Eleanor's address.
I'll be there, Lor-Lor.
His teasing nickname causes my cheeks to get warm. I brush off my body's response to his words as just being happy to still have my friend, even though it feels like more.
I reply with a thank you, set my phone aside, and get to work.

On Thursday I break my vow of minimum contact with Blaine by going into his office to ask him if I could leave early tomorrow.
He stares at me for a second, then clears his throat. "Why?"
"I got an apartment and I'm moving in Saturday. I just need a few extra hours tomorrow to get things prepared. You know, put stuff in my car, grab more boxes and tape... I'll even stay late tonight if I need to."
He waves his hand, brushing off my words. "Don't worry about that. As long as you have all your regular duties for the week done by lunchtime tomorrow, you may leave early."
I let out a huge breath of relief. "Thank you, Blaine... I mean, Mr. Jensen."
He raises an eyebrow. "Oh, so we're back to formalities."
"Oh, I, uh..." I put a hand over my face. "I'm sorry. I didn't know where we stood after..."
He leans back in his chair. "After I kissed you last week and you've been avoiding me ever since?"
I look away from him and to my feet. "Uh, yeah. That."
Blaine sighs and comes over to me. "Look, Lorelei."
I peek up at him."Yes?"
"You have absolutely nothing to worry about when it comes to me or my intentions."
"Intentions?"
"You're beautiful. I'd have to be crazy not to see it and be attracted to you. But you are still married, and even though you're getting a divorce, I'm not about to cross any lines until you give your consent."
"Oh." His answer surprises me. Well, not entirely since he did say "Maybe someday" to me before, but he is still my boss. "So, things aren't awkward?"
"Maybe slightly, but only because all I want to do right now is lock my office door and do some more than friendly things with you."
I giggle, a blush forming on my cheeks. "Uh, well... that does make it a teensy bit awkward."
"Don't worry, I can restrain myself... that is, if you can." His lips slowly curve into a smirk and my cheeks get redder still. "But I think we can manage. And you can still call me Blaine."
I nod. "Okay then. I'll make sure I get all my work done by tomorrow afternoon."
"Will you be needing any assistance for the move?"
"Not really. My brother-in-law is borrowing his dad's truck and trailer, so we should be able to get everything in no more than a couple trips. I'm not planning on taking much from my ex's house."
"Well, I'm here for moral support then." He takes my hand, placing a kiss on it.
"Thanks, Blaine."~~~~~~~~~~
A/N - I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to continue to update. This is as far as I have available for the story, for now. Like I mentioned before, there's another chapter on an old computer, so I need to get access to it again and get the chapter off there so I can share it. If I can't, I'll try to rewrite it. It's been some time since I wrote it, so I need to regroup to make sure I have the timeline straight for it.
In any case, I hope you've enjoyed the new chapter and I hope I'll be able to get more to you within the next month or so. :)
