I don't want this night to end,
It's closing time, so leave with me again

Jenny dances, feeling the music flow within her as she sings the lyrics at the top of her lungs. She doesn't notice anyone around her, doesn't feel anything except the pulsing of the beat as she immerses herself in the moment. The freedom she feels is intoxicating, and she moves her imperfect body with the music, not caring who is watching. Nobody is watching though, as each person in the room is doing the same as her. The song ends and Jenny steps off the dance floor to find her friends. She spots her best friend, Clara, across the room and waves, dancing over with a wide grin on her face.

"Fuck, I love that song." Jenny laughs, raising her voice to compete with the music. Clara simply nods, cheeks flushed with alcohol and joy, and Jenny impulsively pulls her into a tight hug. "Thank you for dragging me out tonight. I know I was a bitch about it but you're right, I need to stop moping over Zack and just have some fun." Zack is Jenny's on-again-off-again boyfriend, and they're currently off.

"When are you going to accept that I'm always right?" Clara laughs loudly and steps away, taking a gulp of her drink and setting the empty glass on the closest table. " C'mon, finish your drink; there's someone here I want you to see."  Jenny raises her eyebrows but does as she's told. She puts the empty glass next to Clara's and takes her outstretched hand, allowing herself to be led across the floor to the bar. There are a group of guys stood by the bar talking, and Jenny is just starting to think she recognises them when one turns around to greet the girls.

"Nick?!" Jenny exclaims before he has chance to say anything. His smile is wide and bright as he reaches for her.

"Hey, gorgeous." He says softly, his New Jersey drawl filling the space between them. He pulls her close and she melts into his embrace, filling her lungs with his evocative smell, a mix of aftershave and adrenaline.

"I haven't seen you for so long! How's the tour?" Jenny pulls away but Nick doesn't let go; he places an arm around her waist and holds her close. She turns to look for Clara but the brunette has disappeared back into the crowd. Subtle, Jenny thinks to herself. Nick's brother is a long time friend of Clara's, and she's been dying to set the two of them up for years.

"It's been good, we're just on a break right now before we head over to Germany next week." Nick smiles down at Jenny and tightens his grip on her waist. She relaxes into him, subconsciously moving closer into the familiar embrace. It's something that happens every time they're together; they dance around each other, close and intimate but never crossing the line, and then go their separate ways. It's been like this for years, neither of them acknowledging how they feel because life always gets in the way.
Jenny accepts the drink that Nick hands to her and gratefully takes a sip, distracting herself from his intense gaze. They stand in comfortable silence for what feels like hours, watching the dance floor and occasionally glancing at one other, still not moving away from each other. Jenny catches his eyes once or twice, quickly looking away when she is caught admiring his beautiful features, but doesn't notice when Nick does the same.

"Dance with me?" He whispers into her ear, leaning across her in an intimate gesture that makes her heart beat increase until it is pounding in her ears. She nods and sets her drink down on the bar, taking his hand and again allowing herself to be led, this time into the middle of the dance floor. The song changes to something slower and he pulls her close, gently resting his hands on her hips. She loops her arms around his neck and sways with him to the beat, trying to keep a sliver of space between them so she can think straight. Nick, however, has other ideas and steps forward, closing the gap and pressing their bodies together. Jenny gasps quietly as she feels his strong chest press against hers, instinctively moving her hands to grip his broad shoulders.
