"Isn't it beautiful?" Mavis asked.

Looking off, I gazed upon the horizon.

"It must be. I'm sure the flora is to die for." Bandaged fingers rose to pinch the petal of a curious flower.

"Why do you say it like that?" She sounded concerned, such a heavy voice for her to bare.

"Oh? I hadn't mentioned, color is a luxury I've not afforded." Softly, I chuckled. But... she did not find it humorous.

"Has it always been like this?"

"Oh no, rather recently I was able, but things change." I shrugged.

"What? What happened?" Why was this of concern to her? Why did she have interest in... Me?

"It was a matter so simple, I disappointed my lord. As penance I had to pay with my vision." She... She looked horrid.

"What?!" She spasmed. Was a riposte such as this to be expected?

"It was nought, I promise." I laughed once more. "I was given a task and made mistakes... Dissatisfied with my failure, amends were demanded..." I laughed, but suddenly I understood that... that wasn't acceptable... wasn't it?...

"It's nothing." My body tensed. "It could have been far worse. My master wanted more, they could've been much harsher." Agar and in awe, Mavis could barely fathom what it was I spoke.

"How so?" Her words, they were hesitant. Why?

"See, they've a savvy for how I love to feel the wind between my flesh; they wanted to take that away but they were merciful."

"I didn't know Foretellers had masters." Sweeping over me, a sudden sensation of doom pinned across my back.

"Yes," I nodded. "My peers and I follow the whims of one. It is the Foreteller's role. Please, let us no longer speak of this. It needs not to concern any else." As she begrudged yet digressed, that feeling did flee. With a relief within my flesh I found it easier to enjoy her company.
