Nathan’s POV

“Look, I’m sorry about what happened all those years ago. I was in a bad place and I needed something to make you stay” Rheanna sighs. I turn to look at her and she’s looking down at her lap.

“What happened to you?” I ask her. She can’t have just randomly rang me for no reason. Something must have happened to her.

“A very bad thing” she tells me, as she looks up at me.

“Lewis?” I ask her, looking back at the road.

“Yeah” she sighs.

“I should have never let you go with him” I tell her. I can’t help feeling guilty about the situation. I mean, she even asked me if I would mind if she went to Scotland with him and I said no. I should have stopped her. He wasn’t right and I knew it. After all the abuse and everything, I still let her go with him and with Leo too. I don’t know what I was thinking.

“It’s not your fault Nathan. I shouldn’t have been so stupid. He told me he’d changed and I just believed him” she tells me.

“Where is he now?” I ask her, wondering if he will come after her again, I mean the first thing he did when he got out of prison the first time was find her, wasn’t it.

“He’s in prison, hopefully” she says.

“What happened then?” I ask her again, hoping she would tell me this time.

“Well we went to Scotland and it was fine, or the first week or so, at least, but then he just started to get all protective over me again and he stopped me from going out again and hitting me. I was like his slave and I hated it. He started to lock him in the cellar when I did something wrong, but he would make sure Leo was playing or something or sometimes, he would hit me in front of Leo and he’d  be like ‘Look at mummy. She’s a naughty girl isn’t she?’ and once he got Leo to slap me. It was horrible, but I couldn’t get out. I couldn’t stop what he was doing to me. Then about two days ago, I watched him hit Leo and it killed me. I knew at that moment, that I had to stop what was happening. So I waited for him to go out and I managed to get out of the cellar where I was locked. Then I ran to the school where I picked Leo up and they saw that I was in a state, so they called the police and when Lewis came to get Leo they took him and I went to call you. I know I shouldn’t have after everything, but you were the only person I could think of and I’m just glad that you didn’t change your number. So thanks” she says and then I notice the bruises on her arms. I can’t help but feel slightly guilty about letting her go, but at least she’s safe now.

I don’t know what to say to that though. Yes, I wanted to know what had happened to her, but I just wish it was something different, something not as bad.

Renee’s POV

I walk into the dark house, trying to be as quiet as possible, as to not wake Nathan or Lucy. I didn’t get that drunk tonight, which is a change for me. As I get up to my bed room, ready to go to bed, I can’t help but notice that Nathan isn’t there. I run into Lucy’s room and she isn’t there either. Where the hell are they? I take my phone out of my pocket to call Nathan and ask him what he’s playing at, when I notice that I have a text from him. I open it to see the words “I’ve had to go and help a friend out. Sorry. I will be home tomorrow and Max has got Lucy. He said he’ll take her to school too. Love you xxx

How could be just pile our daughter off onto someone else? I suppose this friend must be pretty important though. I hope it’s not Jay or someone. I know the band means a lot to Nathan and I wouldn’t want anything to slip it up.

Max’s POV

“Come on then Lucy” I say, with a smile as I walk to my car.

“Uncle Max, where’s my mum, she usually takes me school” Lucy tells me.

“I know, but your mummy’s busy today, so you have me. Is that cool?” I ask her, she’s so cute and it’s amazing how fast kids grow up.

“Yeah” she smiles, as I put her into the car seat.

When we finally reach the school, I notice that there are a lot of people crowding round waiting for the doors to open. We both get out of the car and we head towards the school playground. As soon as we reach it, Lucy runs straight over to another little girl.

“Lucy” the other girl shrieks. I go over to the pair of seven year old girls who are screaming and jumping around.

“Oh, you’re Lucy’s dad?” someone asks. I turn to see that it’s a pretty looking girl who looks about twenty.

“What? No. She’s my friend’s daughter” I explain and she smiles.

“Oh that’s sweet” she tells me.

“I take it, that one’s yours” I say awkwardly, as I don’t know the child’s name.

“No, she’s my niece and her names Katie” she laughs.

“Oh cute kid” I say, trying not to sound like I’m a paedophile or anything.

“She sure is, so I’m Becky anyway” she smiles.

“Oh nice to meet you, Becky. I’m Max” I tell her, also smiling. At that moment the doors open and the kids all start to run in.

“Bye, uncle Max” Lucy shouts, as she slowly disappears into the school.

“Aww she calls you ‘uncle’” Becky laughs again.

“Well me and her dad are pretty much like brothers, I suppose. We’re in a band” I tell her. Ok, so maybe I’m trying to show off a bit.

“Oh really. In a man band are you. Let me guess you’re the new take that?” she mocks.

“No seriously. I’m in a famous band. The Wanted” I tell her, but she doesn’t seem like she knows who we are.

“Never heard of you” she tells me, with a small smirk.

“Look us up. I’m sure you’ll find something. I’m the good looking one of the band, obviously” I tell her, as we walk out of the school gates together.

“I’m sure you are” she smiles.

“Yeah, so I’ll, erm, see you around then?” I ask her, as I approach my car.

“Yeah, I hope so” she tells me and with that, she’s gone.
