31.
Sean was wide awake because his circling thoughts had ruined his sleep.
Rozelle was curled up around her pillow, with her back turned towards him and he couldn't tell if she were asleep and frankly..Sean could care less.
He stumbled from the bed to use the bathroom where he brushed his teeth and washed his face at the sink.
Lifting his head Sean stared into the mirror, sighed and then returned to the bedroom to wake his wife.
"Good morning." Rozelle murmured after sitting upright in the bed.
The red hair framed her pale, drowsy face like a scarlet curtain and her eyes were puffy and smudged beneath.
"You didn't sleep much last night either." Sean said, observing the dark puffiness around her eyes. "I can tell."
"Is it that obvious?" Rozelle said. "How did you sleep?"
"I was a little restless." He admitted. "I'm still trying to process the things you told me last night."
"But you asked for the truth." Rozelle said. "I tried to warn you but you insisted."
Rozelle watched in sorrow as Sean settled on the side of the bed, running both hands through
his short, dark hair until it stood up in feathery tufts , he sighed and looked over his shoulder at her.
"I'm having a major problem dealing with it.
I guess I wasn't ready to find out that my wife was a whore."
Stung, Rozelle simply stared at him at a loss for words.
"Did Theo and Louie know?" He asked.
"No." She said . "Why would I tell them something like that?"
"So you kept it a secret?"
His eyes narrowed as he raked her from head to toe with coldeyes ,as if she were a stranger and that hurt Rozelle more than his cruel words ever could.
"You weren't ever going to tell me. I realize that now.
You tricked me Rozelle.""I wasn't trying to trick you." She said but the words froze on her tongue as a crushing hopelessness claimed her soul.
Gripping the frilly edge of the comforter, Rozelle simply stared at her husband bleakly.
There were no more excuses and she wouldn't have tried to offer excuses at this point anyway.
"Why didn't you tell me the truth in the begining?" Sean was clearly upset,
"Remember when we talked about this in Washington?
You lied to me then and that's what's troubling me the most."
"I was too ashamed to admit the truth back then."
"What's changed now?" He asked and there was an edge to his voice, "And was that guy at the theater one of your lovers."
"Why does that matter now?" Rozelle asked, not particularly desiring to discuss "Whip".
She knew that the subject would only make things worse and besides..that dalliance ended a long time ago.
"It matters because I want to know." Sean said.
Taking a deep breath and expelling it on a long sigh, Rozelle muttered,
"Yes Sean.
That guy was one of my clients.
But I'm no longer an escort.
