Lazarus and Taylor are at a standoff.
"You... you don't understand." Taylor declares with reservation.
"Why don't you explain it to me then?" responds Lazarus, trying to deescalate the situation.
Taylor thrusts the barbell towards him in a pointing way, "Why? So you can pander to me? Tell me you understand?"
"I may not understand, but I can't know until you tell it to me. I have a sister. I know what it's like to have her get on my nerves. I know what it feels like when you're so angry with your sister that you just..."
Taylor interrupts, "Want to punch her."
There's a long moment of silence before Lazarus responds, "Yes."
Another moment happens between them before Taylor breaks it this time, "She just... didn't understand."
"Understand what?" wonders back Lazarus.
"I was trying to help her. She needed my help and... all I did was just..."
"Try and help."
"Yes." says Taylor, dejected.
"What was it? What were you doing?" questions Lazarus in a calm tone of voice.
"She... she was in debt. I tried to help her with it. I went to the people who she owed and offered to pay it off for her."
Lazarus looks at Taylor for a moment, "I'm guessing these weren't bankers you were talking to."
"No... but when I told her that she was okay, that she didn't have to do what they asked anymore, she... she yelled at me. I kept trying to explain and she kept yelling. So I started yelling back. And then... then... I just..." Taylor tries before going quiet.
"What?"
Suddenly, there's a knock at the front door.
"Mr. Morley? Open up, it's the police." Elias's voice comes from the outer hall.
This makes Taylor look at Lazarus, quickly getting angry, "What the hell? You tricked me."
"No, I... I didn't." tries Lazarus.
"You exploited my love for my sister, just so you could trick me."
"I didn't..." says before being cut off.
"How would you feel if I did that to you? To your sister?"
"Lazarus? Is that you?" asks Elias from the hallway.
"How does he know your name?"
Lazarus turns to the closed door, "Elias! It's me..."
As he speaks, Taylor hits him in the back of the head with the barbell in his hand. Lazarus falls to the floor in a heap.
