Mark and Daniel have been best friends since they were basically in...
~ Mark tried to not let his excitement show as Lucas pulled him aside before school to talk.
"So Mark I was wondering if you wanted to eat with my friends today during Lunch?" The older boy asked albeit a bit nervously. Mark would have immediately answered yes if there had not been one problem.
"Umm where do you guys sit?" Mark asked after a few moments of hesitation.
"In the cafeteria, is there something wrong with that?" Lucas answered
"Daniel can be a bit... weird about it when I talk or hang out, sometimes even when it's my brother, with someone that isn't him or his friends." Mark explained.
"So he treats you like property?" Lucas suggested with a raise of his eyebrow.
"No, no! Nothing like that... It's just complicated."
"I guess I get it." Lucas said with a somewhat disappointed frown. Mark felt so bad. Seeing Lucas frown made him unhappy.
"I mean I would still love to sit with you!" Mark reassured in a rush holding on to Lucas' arms. The older boy broke out into a bright beaming smile. "Great! I'll see you then."
Mark watched the other run off to a group of boys and he really didn't even have the heart to rethink the decision.
~ Mark took in three quick breaths outside of the cafeteria doors. Daehwi rolled his eyes (rude) at him and pushed past him into the cafeteria.
"OK Mark Lee, you can do this just walk inside-"
"Yo Mark what are you waiting for?" Daniel questioned appearing out of nowhere. Mark tried not to blush as the older's arm subconsciously slipped around his waist. He guided Mark through the doors and they started to make their way in the direction of their usual lunch area.
"Umm Daniel," Mark paused and turned to face him, "I'm actually sitting with a friend today."
Daniel stared at him blankly for what felt like hours.
Mark hurried to reassure him. "I'm s-sure it's only for today though!" Daniel nodded silently and ruffled his hair. He turned away before pausing and looking back.
"By the way, I liked what you wore yesterday. You should wear it more often." And then he walked away. Mark tried not to flush at the compliment and scanned the cafeteria in hopes of spotting Lucas. Soon enough he saw a large hand waving at him paired with a beaming smile. Mark hurried over.
6 other boys sat at the table with Lucas. As soon as he got closer all eyes were on him and he tried to not show his discomfort.
"Guys, this is Mark!"Lucas introduced.
"Ooo, so this is the cute boy you've been fawning over. " One of the boys commented slyly.
Lucas sputtered nervously "Ten shut the fUck up!" which lead to a chorus of laughter.
"If you don't want him, I'll happily snatch him away from you." One of the boys said smiling gently at Mark, "I'm Sicheng but I also go by Winwin." He was smacked by a vaguely amused older boy with a student council badge pinned onto his jacket. He guessed this was Kun.
"C'mon Ten don't embarass the poor boy, you three stop snickering and Sicheng for God's sake don't scare the poor boy." Kun scolded albeit somewhat fondly. Sicheng just smiled again and continued eating. Kun snorted mumbling something under his breath before focusing on Mark.
"Sorry about these losers Mark they are on a different level of weird. I might as well introduce you to everyone since Xuxi can't be bothered to do so ("Hey!")."
"As you might know I'm Kun. Your brother might have mentioned me."
"And this is Ten," Kim explained pointing to the boy who had spoken first, who now seemed to have a genuinely sweet smile on his face as he waved at Mark,"Don't mind him if he flirts with you it's in his nature."
"And now the unholy trio. First there's Hendery who is trying to convince everyone he's tanner than he actually is with his foundation." Kun said with protest from said boy.
"Then there's Xiaojun who is honestly basically an angel compared to the rest of us."
"Thank you Kun-ge! (so sorry if I'm using these wrong smh)" Xiaojun exclaimed happily munching on some fries.
"And now for the devil incarnate we have Yangyang. He may seem like the baby of the group but he's really a demon." Kun explained.
"Awe I know you love me Kun." Yangyang joked.
"Yeah when you're not a thorn in my side." Kun snorted.
"Haha... Yeah." If Mark wasn't mistaken he almost heard a twinge of sadness in the younger boys voice. His thoughts were confirmed when Hendery squeezed YangYang's shoulder the moment Kun looked away and the boy leaned his head on Hendery's shoulder. He was also sure that everyone else was aware with the way Sicheng and Ten shared a look. Mark decided he should probably sit down.
"Well, welcome to the group Mark. The moment you met us you were apart of this hell hole." Ten cheered snagging a chicken nugget from Sicheng who didn't seem to care.
"You should tell us more about yourself Mark, so we can maybe get to know you better?" Xiaojun asked.
"Oh! Uh sure." Mark said cheeks a tiny bit flushed.
"Well my full name is Mark Lee. I'm a sophomore here and my brother is Jungwoo Lee. I consider Daniel Kang my best friend-"
"Wait! Your the Mark Lee?!?" Ten exclaimed in shock. The others attention was immediately on him.
"Umm yeah?"
"OK now I'm not a picky person but if you could get one of his guy friends to hook up with me I would worship the ground you walk on!" Sicheng begged.
"I'm not that close with any ofthem besides Daehwi and Seungwoo. Daehwi has a huge crush on some older dude I don't know about and I don't think I've ever seen Seungwoo have any interest in a boy or girl at this school." Now that he thought about it Seungwoo hasn't showed interest in romance period.
"Damn..." Sicheng sighed out.
"It's not like you don't have like half of the student council after you." Yangyang reminded. Sicheng just flipped him off.
"Are they always like this?" Mark whispered addressing Lucas as an argument broke out.
"Unfortunately." Lucas chuckled.
"I'm glad." Mark giggled.
"Great," Lucas beamed, "You fit right in. Wanna' hang with us after school?"
Mark looked over at Daniel's table and managed to catch Daehwi's eye. He tried to not laugh as he winked at him and gave Mark a thumbs up. Mark focused back on an expectant Lucas. "Of course."
