The hissing noise was increasing and increasingly frightening. I got up from the sofa to see what it was, but soon my vision became impaired as the blood and flesh of somebody splattered across my newly fitted window. I wanted to scream but I was frozen, I couldn't move any part of me.

Harold, my husband, and Albert, my only son, raced down the stairs to discover me staring at the window expressionless. I presumed they heard the man's body exploding on the window. They were still in their pyjamas as it was only 6:39am, both wearing black, green and red checkered blouses and trousers. "Elizabeth dear, what's wrong? Why aren't you movi-" As i lifted my hand slowly towards the window, pointing at the very thing that had caused my shock, Harold paused, he saw it. Albert began to scream, clasping his face turning his fingers white. Harold stood speechless until the window was buzzed off completely along with some of the house and some of my hand.

My fingers and knuckles were wiped off clean by a beam of icy blue light. Pure terror and pain erupted inside of me. The pain was so insufferable that I began to screech at the top of my lungs, tears had flooded my bottom eyelids and streamed to my cheeks. I became dizzy, nauseous, sick. I threw up, violently. I passed out. Harold continuously stood still whilst Albert rushed over to me, he grabbed a pillow from the sofa and squeezed it to my gushing knuckles. His breath rapid, out of control.
"Dad, pick mum up and carry her, we need to leave now."
Harold obliged, still a look of horror plastered on his face. He picked me up and we went out of the door.

As soon we were out of the door pounding earthquake-like footsteps shook the ground coming nearer to us. Albert spotted it. A gigantic robot with legs like a spider, head like a beetle and a singular eye like a cyclops of which was where the beams of light were coming from. People exploding all around us, the monster had no mercy.

As I began to wake I see Harold with tears drowning his eyes but he stayed silent as to not be heard. I looked around, we were in an alleyway far from home I see a rat scurrying away after finding it's meal from one of the two overloaded bins, concrete flooring with weeds lining the edges but no Albert. I lift my head up from the ground, Harold notices my movement and suddenly stops crying. I pushed my body to a sitting position with my hands  and began to speak, "Honey? Wher-"
Harold hushed me, tears began to tumble down my face again.

Thud, thud, thud. It was coming towards us. Thud, thud, thud. The thuds became increasingly louder. Thud, thud, thud. It came to a hault, its shadow lured over us. The both of us trembled, Harold began to retreat into the alleyway and I followed. Snap. I had accidentally step on a twig. I started to shake uncontrollably. The monster turned its head to face us. Harold took off, he scampered away leaving me defenceless. As my heart was pounding out of my chest the monster walked over to me, this was the end, my son was brutally murdered, my husband ran away from me, my home town was in pieces, completely destroyed. I winced preparing for my fate, or so I thought...
