I woke up this morning expecting today to be another hard day. Dashing out of bed to my closet, I check my phone and it seems as I've slept in again! "Shoot! So much for keeping a low profile today." I tell myself."ToniRose Gabriella! Get the hell out of bed right now." My mother yells for me. Oh no.
"I'm out! I'm getting dressed!" I yell back. Now thinking about it, I should've just said ok.
Picking out a maroon colored cropped hoodie and a pair of my skinny jeans. I throw on socks and slip on my black favorite pair of Vans. I run to the bathroom thinking that if I don't hurry I'm going to miss out on breakfast yet again. I brush my teeth and comb through my hair a couple times. I walk back to my room and grab my phone along with my plain backpack before rushing downstairs. "Mom what's for breakfast?"
"Nothing." She told me.
"Can I get money to eat at school then?" I'm starving because the only thing I ate yesterday was a stolen bag of chips from the local gas station. "Or a packed lunch at least?"
"Whatever," I mumbled. I wasn't going to argue. I don't need more arks than I already have. Walking out the door, I notice a decent sized bruise on my right forearm. "I gotta keep that covered," I think.
I walk to the bus stop and as usual my boyfriend, Derek, is standing by the street sign. "Hey," He says.
"Hey," I answered back. Today he's wearing his normal bad boy look. A pair of tight ripped jeans, a black Thrasher hoodie, and his normal black Nike air force shoes and his long black hair covering the top of his face. He gives that gorgeous smile that makes my stomach do that whole flip thing.
He leans closer to me and whispers in my ear, "Hey babygirl,I missed you." I look up and give him a small little kiss on the lips as the bus was already here.
We walk onto the bus and sit in our normal seats. The ones right in the back. We carved our names in the back of the seat in front of us so everyone else knows where our we sit. "Why didn't you answer my text messages this morning?" He asks me.
"I woke up late again. So I wasn't able to check my phone. I'm sorry," I apologized to him.
He gives me that sympathetic smile, "I understand. Anyway," he tells me, "I got something for you." He smiles at me.
"What?" I ask. He digs in his back pants pocket and pulls out a wad of money. "Oh my god! Where did you get that?" My smile shows everything.
"I found out that my dad won the lottery a couple years back and never told me." he says, "So I decided I would, I guess, I would take the money because he didn't deserve it anyway." I smile my biggest smile.
He leans closer to me and I whisper in his ear, "You didn't." and he kisses me on the forehead.
"I did." I can feel his smile. I lay my head against his chest knowing that only with him I can feel safe.
