(Morgan's P.O.V)

Today is the first day of Junior year. You can say I'm not excited, and that would be an understatement.

I planned to wake up early this morning,  to get ready with extra time, but that didn't happen. I woke up with about 20 minutes before I had to leave to pick up my best friend Tyler. I put on the outfit I had put out the night before; a green wrap skirt, a gray cropped t shirt, and my air force 1's. I finish getting ready and then I race down the stairs.

My dad is awake and in the kitchen making me a bowl of cereal.

"Good morning Morg. how did you sleep?" he asked as he poured the milk.

"Fine, I guess. I'm not ready for today, though." I said, as he handed me the bowl.

"You will be fine. you have at least one friend in all of your classes, so how bad can it be?" he asks.

"I guess you're right. shoot- I have to go pick up Tyler!" I say, frantically, as I check my watch. I grab my phone and backpack off the counter and then I head to the door.

"have a great day, and don't worry too much. I love you." he says, blowing me a kiss and smiling. I smile and wave back as I run down the driveway to my car. I head to Tyler's house.

(Tyler's P.O.V)

I got Morgan's text as I was grabbing my backpack off the couch. I head out the door. I run down to the car and I throw my bag in the backseat and hop in the front.

"Gooooood morning Morgie" I say, excitedly to try and cheer up her grumpy face.

" mmhmm. why are you so peppy this morning?" she laughs.

"dude. we have one more year after this until we are DONE. with highschool. how can you not be excited?" I say.

"because we still have this year, and SATs, and college letters to deal with." she groans.

"you can't think about all the negatives! we get to sit in the upperclassmen cafeteria, we get to have the upstairs lockers, and we get to sit in our own section during pep rallies!" I say, excitedly.

"oh whatever." she smiles.

We get to school and park the car.

"hey, I want to go in and introduce you to someone in our AP Lit class. is that cool with you?" I ask her.

"yeah, of course. I'm going to be struggling in that class anyway so I might as well enjoy the people in the class" she laughs. we grab our stuff from the backseat and we head into the front entrance.

We head to AP lit which us our first class and one of the three classes we have together. We head in and I lead her over to a table.

(Morgan's P.O.V)

Tyler leads me to a table with a girl with curly brown hair at it. when we get to the table, she looks up and smiles. she jumps up and gives Tyler a hug. I'm confused.

"Morgan, this is Ashley, the girl I've been talking to all summer!" He says, smiling. My heart stops and for a split second, I freeze.

heres the backstory. Tyler and I dated freshman year and it was great. we just decided that we would rather just be best friends. I still have some feelings for tyler, but I think we are better off as best friends.

I shake myself out of it.

"Hey Ashley, its so nice to meet you" I say, with a fake smile on my face, trying to be nice. Tyler can obviously tell Im upset because he looks me in the eye and gives me a concerned look. I look away and we sit back down. This is going to be a looooong class.

After AP lit:

I grab my bag and head out into the hallway. I hear Tyler say something to Ashley and then i hear his voice yell after me.

"Morgan! Morgan, wait up!" he yells.

"what." I say, angrily as I reach my locker.

"listen, Im sorry I'm seeing another girl, but I thought we decided being friends was best." he says.

"Its not the fact that you're seeing another girl that bothers me, Tyler. Its the fact that you didn't tell me until now. right in front of her." I say, angrily. he frowns.

"Morgan, do you still have feelings for me?" he asks carefully.

"Tyler, I will always have feelings for you, but being best friends is better I think. I'm just upset you didn't tell me earlier that you were seeing her." I say.

"oh. Im really sorry Morgan." he says.

I nod and then I start to head off towards my next class.

This is going to be a long year.
