"Just leave him be. He gets stressed in situations like this. Gabe suggested it was because of his mental block, hardly anything in his mind gets let out so he tenses up when he has to deal with his thoughts and the protection of others." Sabrina said pointing over to Caleb.
Sabrina was one of the other five prophets in the room. Including me.
Sabrina had long blonde hair and hazel-green eyes. Semi-fair skin, all together beautiful. The only thing out of place was a long scar going down her neck I'm not sure how far down her back it went but it definitely didn't stop at the neck.
"So why are you with the prophets?" I asked. Really I was just curious to see all the different powers and if anyone had mine.
"Give me your hand.", she said turning to me it made a loud noise on the leather couch and she laughed a bit. "Promise that wasn't me! Now hand?"
I held out my hand and put it between hers like a sandwich and her pupils shrank. I could feel a weird tingle in my finger tips and then she let go.
"You're going to need to tell somebody about that. What you saw in your dream. I see everything somebody else has seen in the past 10 days when I come in contact with them. I saw what you saw. Somebody needs to know."
"I've been trying to find a way to tell Caleb or Prax, but they both kinda scare me." I said even though it embarrassed me to admit it she didn't seem like the type to judge.
"Ya Prax never comes off as the nicest person really. I think he's one of those tough on the outside soft on the inside cliches because he gets really protective over Caleb.", she looked up and waved over to the big square table where Caleb was talking to Jake the boy who had visioned the attack. "Now Caleb on the other hand is sort of the opposite he's soft on the outside but I don't think he's truly ever trusted anybody but Prax. In a way they're like water and fire but still fit together almost perfectly."
Caleb motioned the rest of the prophets to the table. Me and Sabrina got up and took the two seats to the left of Caleb and the last kid who seemed about 13 took the seat to the right side of jake.
He just sat in silence for a minute but before he said anything. "Okay, I need to know if any of you have seen anything in the past few weeks that would have any kind of correlation to what's happening. There are very few things that can block out arias sight and sneak up on her guardians and If any of you have had any visions that could help us I need to know now."
Sabrina eyed me and I knew what she was thinking. I had to tell him.
I let out a sigh and rubbed my face. "Well on my way here in the car I fell asleep and I had a vision. I'm not sure how much it relates to this, but you were in it and-", I got cut off by Gabe who ran in the two large metal doors and over to the table slamming his hands down. "Derricks *gasp is *gasp dead."
Caleb's jaw dropped and he seemed paralyzed, but that didn't last to long he went over to a closet in the corner of the room and started feeling on the empty top shelf that looked empty. He apparently found what he was looking for. An inhaler he tossed it to Gabe who quickly took to puffs and his breathing slowed.
"Did you say Derrick? Derrick was here? How'd he die? What happened?", i think I saw what Sabrina meant when she said he gets anxiety.
"He was found on the staircase leading to arias floor with a golden knife in his heart. The knife has an inscription in it, but none of us can read it."
"How long ago did it happen do they know?"
"Aria felt it coming and was running up stairs to him, the blood started flowing just when she got there. She never saw anyone near the scene."
"Do we have any orders on what to do? Lock down? Guard? Search?"
"Becky tracked the movements, he's a jumper apparently. We know he's no longer here though."
I could barely keep up with what was going on. What's a jumper?
"Anything that can teleport is known as a jumper until directly identified." Caleb said looking in my direction.
"Did you just-"
"Read your thoughts? Ya occasionally I pick up people's ideas and thoughts anything they're doing mentally really, but I don't catch them all the time." I nodded in agreement glad I didn't have to always watch what I was thinking around him. "Okay, but what are the orders?"
"Prax is sending out a team he's taking a few from each skill set. He said choose someone you want to go and that he wants you to come to."
Caleb looked around the room until his eyes locked on mine. "Guess it's your lucky day newbie."
"Oh?", I was shocked and wasn't sure what to say so I just stood up when he motioned for me to and followed him into the hall way.
"You ready to have some fun?", he asked. he sounded genuinely excited about what we were about to do so it must be fun because since I've met him he's spoken kind of monotone.
"Uhhhh sure." We walked to the end of the hall way. There was another steel door like the one at his office but when he opened it the room was full of weapons.
Swords, knives, bows, golden pistols, brass knuckles but not brass I think they were made of emerald?
"See anything you like?", he asked as I looked around the room.
He went to the corner and ripped up a piece of tile. I stared at him as he pulled out a sword from the hole under the tile.
"Like it? Made of almost every material possible, well the ones deadly to monsters anyway. "
He held out his sword it didn't even seem to be a color. Every time it moved to a different lighting the look of it changed.
"Are you gonna pick something or
Stand there?"
I looked at the wall and didn't see anything that completely caught my eye. Wait is that a glove?
"It's a gauntlet. Most of the time anyway."
I was wondering if he was reading my thoughts again or just saw me staring at it. "What do you mean mostly?"
He walked over to the wall and took it out of it's spot. Then motioned for me to walked towards him.
He put the glove- sorry gauntlet over my hand, it was metal but not that heavy. "It fits well but I don't see how it's going to protect me much?"
"Well that's where the mostly part comes in.", he cocked back his fist, grabbed me by my shirt collar and swung but just before he got to me dropped his fist and let go of my shirt.
"You like it?" He asked as if none of that just happened.
I stared at him waiting to see if he started to laugh. That had to be some kind of joke right? "Look!" He said pointing to my hand still.
I looked but where I was expected there to be a gauntlet was a full sized battle axe. "Sorry I scared you but I had to it only does that during moments of need or fear."
