Hoseok wasn’t too ecstatic about being alone at the bar his first night on vacation, he had been hoping to spend time with Jungkook before they split up and did their own thing. He couldn’t blame Jungkook for running off with the first girl that bat her lashes at the younger man, he’d have done the same if the tables were turned.
Sighing heavily, Hoseok grabs a seat on a stool at the bar. Lifting his yellow framed sunglasses off his face to sit on his head as the bartender asks him for his order. Hoseok gets his go-to drink, jack, and coke before taking a look around the bar. A few patrons are scattered on the green tabletops and a few people linger on the stools by the bar.
A beautiful woman sits a few seats away from him with a scowl on her face, glaring down at her cell phone. Hoseok wonders what could have upset her. Maybe a breakup? Maybe she was stood up? Hoseok wanted to approach her but didn’t want to upset her more and have her lash out at him, he knew she would already be wary of him seeing as he was a stranger.
“Do I have something on my face?” Hoseok was startled to hear her voice as she raised a brow in his direction, his throat running dry as the bartender sets his drink in front of him.
“Well?” The woman prods, her no-bullshit tone making the hair on his arms rise. He’s captivated by her beauty, despite the scowl on her face, she’s gorgeous.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to stare. I noticed you were upset,” Hoseok turns away, grabbing his drink to bring it to his lips.
“Yeah, my friends ditched me to go fuck,” you grumble as you take a sip from your own mixed drink.
“Sounds like our friends are cut from the same cloth. Mine ditched me for a woman he met on the plane,” Hoseok chuckles as he toys with the napkin on the bar.
“Yikes,” you frown as you run your hand through your hair before downing the rest of your drink. “Some vacation, huh?”
“Tell me about it,” Hoseok grunts as he downs his drink as well before ordering a second one. You rise from your seat to sit beside him, taking him by surprise.
“How long are you here for?”
“Until Sunday,” Hoseok answers as he turns his body to face you, his left hand gripping his drink.
“What a coincidence, me too,” you grab the bartender's attention and order a second drink, thanking him when it’s placed in front of you.
“Have you been here before?”
“I came last year with my best friend. It was before he started dating my roommate, so it was just us. I wasn’t the third wheel then,” you pout as you stir your drink, avoiding the man’s heated gaze.
“I see.”
“Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad they’re together and everything but I feel left out sometimes. Like tonight, for example, we all went out to dinner and had a good time then they ditched me to go have sex. Like they couldn’t have waited until later?” You sip your drink, sighing as you adjust your dress, pulling the neckline higher. Hoseok catches the action, quickly looking away to avoid making things awkward.
“Have you mentioned it to them?” Hoseok inquires, stirring the ice in his glass.
“Kinda, not directly,” you shrug. “Anyway, what's your name?”
Hoseok smiles, his lips parting to speak but you shush him, your finger pressed to his lips.
Tingles run down his spine at your electric touch, his eyes looking down at your finger before his gaze meets yours.
