I had a contractor build a ramp into our house for Evie. She's grateful for it, but I can tell how much pain she is. She has to be driven to school now and she looks so...depressed. Most days when she's home are spent in her room looking out the window to watch the people outside. I went back to work today after so long away to help Evie, but there was a case. My colleague and I were assigned to solve a suspicious death involving a man named James [REDACTED]. James was found in his house in the master bedroom with a look of horror plastered on his face. He was sprawled across his bed naked with a pool of blood the size of a human in the space on the right side of the bed. The scene was much different than the one of my last case with Jessica Malorie. Rather than serenity, there was fear and blood. And the smell...it smelled like vanilla and copper in the room. Like someone lit a candle to attempt to cover the smell of blood, but it instead mixed into something sweet and metallic. I was able to look over the body, only to find that there was hair and skin under his fingernails. He was fighting someone, presuming that it was a woman as the hair was a long. Forensics will be able to tell us more of who was here, but it had to be someone he knew and/or trusted since there was no forced entry into the house.

Forensics came to me today to say that the hair was indeed from a woman aged 24. However, the DNA from the skin said it was from a woman who went missing in 1970. That's impossible. This case has connections to the Jessica Malorie case. The Chief said that I'm to figure this out, but I also have to make sure my daughter has me if she needs me. My wife is calling me, not sure what about.

My baby...my Evie...she was in the bathtub with cuts on her wrists...she was rushed to the hospital, but I fear that she's going to be gone-[cuts off here with a slight stray line of ink from some sort of interruption]
She's fine. She woke up a few hours after her cuts were dealt with to get the bleeding to stop. She looked at us...blankly for a moment. I had no idea that she was in that much pain. She didn't say anything when we hugged her, but she did when we let her go. "Mom, dad, I'm so sorry." She said, tears welling up in her eyes. I was so relieved to have her with us again. I drove us home once she was able to be released. We were approached by staff at the hospital to have her evaluated, but we refused, just wanting her to come home with us. She's in the living room now with her sister and mother while I'm in the study looking over the cases once again. I need to figure out what is going on while being around for Evie. This won't be easy, but I've done harder things in my life.

Paranormal things were never my expertise, but these cases are impossible by normal means. I need to focus on learning more about what is going on. If I don't write, it might be just from studying these cases.
