ONE

I took a small glimpse at Drew, watching him sleep peacefully. He looked so calm, reposed, beautiful, and certainly breathtaking. His silky black hair shimmered from the sun's reflection, and his skin almost looked like it was glowing. He reminded me of a somewhat flawless porcelain doll.

I put down the book in my hands, and went over to him. His beauty always had drawn me in like this, I simply wasn't able to resist. I kneed beside the bed, and played with his soft thin hair, and that's when I then realized he needed to be cleaned again. A small sigh escaped my lips, as I rested my head on my arms which were neatly folded against each other on the edge of the bed. Thoughts were then filling my head.

"I miss you," I muttered to myself, knowing it was pathetic even saying what I felt aloud. But I kept at it. "I really do miss you, but I'll be patient and when you return, I'll be the first person you see." I held his hand in my own, squeezing it, like I was trying to hold on for dear life.

Three years had passed since Drew went into his slumber, and each passing minute I find myself more impatient with how much more I have to deal with this. But I always, somehow, managed. I would sometimes find myself, during the night, sneak into his room, and sleep with his paralyzed body, it comforted me. I know that may sound strange, but its the truth. Without him, I feel so alone and rather depressed. And this was one of the ways I surpassed my feeling of loneliness and sadness.

Suddenly, bringing me out of my thoughts there was a loud knock. "Hollis, open up!!" A familiar voice that I knew all too well shouted. I groaned in irritation, and slipped out of the room, locking it as I exited.

"I'm coming, hold on." I yelled out, slipping the key into my pockets. I quickly rushed to the door and answered it to be face to face with no one other than Logan and Oliver.

Logan and Oliver were both my fellow friends, while Drew resided in his deep sleep I continued on with my life when I was not caring for him. I meet them during my 3rd year of high school, as I secertly lived a double life of a vampire and a normal person. Of course they didn't know this secret, no one did, only Drew.

Logan barged in, and Oliver followed quietly. He plopped down on the black sofa, lying there lazily. "So, what'd we gonna do today?" Logan asked with a rather un-amused tone. I groaned, obviously annoyed by their sudden appearance. "You're always home, and you never go out, c'mon, don't you want to do something? Isn't it boring living here all by yourself."

I pushed off Logan's feet from the coffee table, and sat on the other end. "No, I like staying home. Unlike you, Logan, I rather not get myself into trouble."

Oliver chuckled and added, "He's right, Logan, you're always getting into trouble and then getting us mixed up in it."

"You guys aren't fun," He muttered to himself like an upset child. "Anyways, that's not why we're here." Logan stated. "You remember that party I've been talking about, well, we're going to crash it!!" He jumped out of his seat, and yanked me up. "Now, hurry up and get ready. We're going to be late." He shoved me into the hallway and right into my room.

"Hey, stop!" I said, disliking being rushed so suddenly. "Logan, I told you I want no part of this."

"Oh, don't get you're panties in a twist, just hurry and get this off." He argued back, trying to pull off my shirt. I tried my best to pry him off of me but only failed, and somehow slipped. But luckily I landed onto my bed.

"Now, get off of me." I pushed Logan but he wouldn't budge. Both of his hands laid on either side of me, and I was trapped in between him. I felt a little uncomfortable in this weird position we were in.

He smirked looking down at me, and I gave him a questioning look. All he said was, "You're really cute." And at that moment my face went completely red.

What did he say? Did I hear him right?

"Huh?" I asked, not sure I hear him right.

"I said you're really slow, now hurry up!!" His tone suddenly changed, and I was conflicted on what just happened. Was I just hearing things?
