" Now I can see why I was cast aside" Now I can see. As in comprehend? understand? A simple sentence, a sentence that engraved deep into Layne's soul. Words that haunt him so, but why do these words torment their owner? How laughable, Layne getting scared over his own vocal noises.  

"Sweet, sweet confusion..." Layne mumbled as he let his head press against the wet bricks of an ally wall. His baggy clothes were latching onto his scrawny body as if he was their lifeline. Layne sulks further down the wall, his body giving itself to the filthy floor below. His tired eyes narrowed as he let out a heavy sigh in frustration, rummaging through his worn and empty pockets, hoping to find even a crumb. Browes furrowed, Layne yanked his sleeves back revealing many circular scars, each forming a familiar pattern in his anti cubical space. His slim cold fingers brushed over his wrist, swollen and bruised.
