31. october 1981 /// Godric's Hallow

"Thank you guys so much for coming! It was really great to see you! Please send us an owl as soon as you get home, okay?" 

Lily said as she hugged you and Remus, James standing right next to her, holding their little bundle of joy. I gave her a reassuring smile 

"Of course we will, darling. Don't worry too much, we'll be fine."

You turned to James, gave him a hug and kissed little Harry on his rosy cheek, Remus following your actions. 

"And if you ever need someone to babysit this little chipmunk, you know how to reach us.". 

With that you both went outside. Remus instantly finding comfort in your soft, still warm hands. He always adored your them, they were one of his most favourite features of yours. They helped him through many injuries and pain, their warmth and softness gave him a feeling of comfort, hope and love. Plus they were freakishly small, which he found really adorable. As he admired you from the side, he couldn't help but notice, that you were lost somewhere in your thoughts.

 "Hey, you alright darling?"

 "Hm? What? Oh yeah yeah, it's just.. I don't know.. Is it just me, or was Peter acting very strange today? As if he was anxious, or.. or maybe waiting for something important. He also looked outside 6 times."

You said while brushing a hand through your long curly dark hair 

"He also left three hours before Sirius and usually he's the first to go.."

 "Don't worry about it Y/N, maybe he was just being a little paranoid or something, with all these things going on right now"

 "Yeah you're probably right, I'm just overthinking". 

You stopped, Remus did too and looked at you a little confused. You stood up on you tippy toes and gave him a kiss, then looked him in the eyes and said 

"I love you so much Remus Lupin." 

"I love you too Y/N Black."

As he spoke these words, his left hand wandered into his pocket, finding a little box with a certain ring in it. His heart was now pounding and he was sure you could hear it too. His mouth started to dry up and his hands wettened from sweat. He was just about to say something, when you took your eyes off of his and started walking home again. 

"Come on Remus it's really starting to get cold now"

He let go of the little box, cursed himself for a moment for not doing it again, nodded and went along with you.

The next morning

There were three harsh knocks on your door. You and Remus were having breakfast and talked about what your plans for the day were. You look at him with a confused expression 

"Are we expecting someone?" 

"Don't think so." Remus said, as he walked up to the door. 

When he opened it, there were two aurors standing infront of him 

"Are you Remus John Lupin?" Remus nodded.

By that time, you were standing next to Remus. You knew something was wrong, you felt it.

 "And you are Y/N Black?"

"Yes, how can we help you?" 

"May we step inside first?"

 "Of course." you and Remus stepped aside, to let the two men in.
