The sun began to crest over the buildings and up into the morning sky as Quinn started to stir at the scent of strong coffee. She was asleep on the couch. Rubbing her head with her right hand, she glanced down at her left. Her wedding set sparkled in the pale yellow sunlight and a smile crept up on her face. Thoughts of last night's kisses ran through her mind and made her legs ache. She replayed their conversation over in her mind. "How did this even happen?" She thought. "Never in a million years did I think it would be like this. I hoped it would, but..."
"Coffee for you." Jack said, putting a halt on her thoughts."I can't believe you're here, having coffee with me in the morning. It's like a dream!" She smiled and he bent down to kiss her sweetly on the forehead before sitting next to her on the couch. He covered his lap with the cable knit blanket and put his arm around her.
"Neither can I, really. I have missed you so much, Quinn. And last night was perfect. Staying up late and talking over a couple drinks; it was like when we first started going together." Jack said.
"Yes, it was. And it was so comfortable. I know it hasn't been long since we've officially separated..." Quinn hesitated and Jack sensed the hurt rising up in her heart.
"It's okay. We will take our time. No rush. No hurry. We have forever. You are my forever, I really mean it Quinn. I'm so sorry." He took a long sip of his coffee and continued. "If I could go back and make a different decision, I would in a heartbeat."
"Thank you. And thank you for understanding that it's going to take me some time. I had almost accepted us being apart and needing to move on to a sad and lonely life without you. And I don't want to go through that again." Quinn laid her head on his strong shoulder and took in the moment. It was perfect and everything she had truly hoped for.
A while later, coffee cups were empty and hearts were full; and the couple laid intertwined in kisses under the blanket on the couch. Quinn reached to run her fingers through Jack's unkempt hair and smiled up at him.
"Thank you again, for coming home." She said.
Looking down at her, into her almond shaped eyes that creased gently at the corners, taking in her freckles and her perfectly shaped mouth; Jack began to cry. Tears came slowly at first, and then he nuzzled his face into Quinn's neck, sobbing. She was not sure what to make of it, remorse is what she hoped for, of course.
"No, thank you." Jack managed. Quinn felt relief come over her as she realized she had not said the wrong thing and these were in fact his own tears of grieving. "I have missed you since the moment it began. I look at you and cannot understand why I did this, how I hurt you. And now, you are so good to me and you still want me. How can you still want me? I want to ask but I don't want to risk losing you if you can't come up with an answer." He began to cry softly again. She sat up and hugged him, and decided now was the best time to be brutally honest.
"I tried to hate you. Really, I did. But all I felt was betrayed and sad. I was sad because I missed you and I was broken because our children deserve the best example of love. And what you did and the decisions you made, they weren't the best. But you know that. And I forgive you, with all my heart. It'll be a while until I feel comfortable enough to make love to you; not that I don't want to because, oh my word." She leaned in and kissed him deeply. It took a few moments and then he began to kiss her back. He was startled at the abruptness of her kiss, but it was perfect. It was as if they had never been apart. She was not sure why she felt so complete, even when there were so many questions running through her mind; but she did.
"You are my home. You and the kids, you're my home." He whispered and continued melting into her. His kiss was warm and his knowledge of Quinn made it easy for him to know just how to touch her. She let out a small moan and it only fueled his lust. Jack's strong hands moved from being intertwined in her hair; sliding down her flushed cheek, and slowly along her side where he grasped tightly on to her hip. One by one, his fingers moved under her shirt until his palm was hot against her skin. Quinn moved slightly to allow him access to more of her and he picked her up and swung her small body on top of his lap. She was straddling him now and could feel every bit of his need for her.
Since it was early morning and Quinn knew they would still be alone downstairs for some time, she decided to throw caution to the wind and gave into wanting her husband. Reaching to her sides, she slid her tank top up over her head and glanced down at Jack's face. He stared in awe at her sizeable breasts, a grin on his face. He reached out, cupping them each in one of his strong hands, taking turns teasing her nipples with his sultry tongue. Quinn arched her back as heat pooled deep within her; her heart racing and her world a blur. It all felt so right that she closed her eyes and let him have her. He grabbed her by the small of her waist and picked her up as he stood. The budding sun glowed like a golden aura around their embrace, dimly lighting the room with warmth. He then laid her on their leather couch and made love to her as if it was their first time.
