She...she's not my daughter...Evie. She attacked some mean girls from her grade. Jasmine told me that Evie leapt from the wheelchair and tackled the leader of the girls. Blood splattered onto the girls' faces from Evie ripping apart the main girl's throat...

I'm in the basement with my wife and Jasmine with a loaded gun at my side. They are hidden behind some boxes while I guard the door from my...that thing. Whatever it is, the creature that took, pretended to be my Evie, I will not let it take my family.
========
There was some scratching, but the voice that followed them was so...haunting. What was that fucking thing and what does it want from my family?! I was able to record the voice on my phone. God, if I survive this, I will upload the recording to the internet to prove evidence of my encounter. It was a woman's voice...but it didn't sound like my Evie. It sounded older, and like it was toying with us. My wife is holding Jasmine with her hand over her mouth to keep her quiet. Even now I can hear the footsteps on the wood floors above us as I write this. I can't help it, but my whole body is tense and shaking. I'm barely able to hold this pen as the footsteps near the basement door, fearing that the thing will bust it down and kill us all.

It just called out again, but I couldn't get a recording. Its words were not...it wasn't just speaking, but was singing. "Ring aroun' a rosie...a pocket full of posies...ashes..ashes...we all fall down..." She sung as she neared the door again. This was followed by a dark giggle. It then said, "You can't hide forever Reese...I always find you..." I don't know what it meant by that last part, but...I don't think I want to know.
========
It's been quiet for a few hours now. The footsteps are gone and the voice has since gone silent as well. My wife and daughter are quietly crying in their hiding spot, mourning the loss of Evie. I sit here yet, just under the basement steps, pistol in my lap as I write this. I plan to go upstairs and see about if the coast is clear. If the creature is gone, I'm going to hunt it down and destroy it once and for all. If not...I'm sure the [REDACTED] Police Department is going to have a fun story...
========
It's gone. No sign of it in the house. I searched everywhere where it could hide, but it was just gone. The back door was open, letting the cool fall air in, but that could've been a lure into a trap to kill us all at once. I was able to upload the recording, so I have evidence of its existence. My wife and Jasmine have gone to clean up the now ransacked house, making sure the creature did not take anything, but it doesn't seem it did. Left completely unarmed.

I'm making plans to leave the house tomorrow and track it down. My father use to take me on hunting trips, so if I can track a deer, this should be a piece of cake. I need to leave at dawn, before my wife and daughter wake up. I know it's going to break them if they know, but I can't risk it. I'm going to take this journal, so I can document everything. Just...praying I come home alive...

[Recording mentioned by Detective Reese is still in the process of being reviewed. The upload as since been removed until verified by the board. Once approved, the recording will be added.]
