You arrived in Honolulu on the second day of summer. And when you got off the plane, you immediately felt the humidity of the air hit your skin. Being your first time in a tropical country, your body wasn't used to such intense heat. And since you were traveling alone, who knows what would happen to you if you got heatstroke? You carried your luggage and walked outside and hailed a cab. Getting inside, you tell the driver the location of the resort. From there you traveled for half an hour to the resort.

During the ride you occasionally looked out the window to admire the beauty of Hawaii. The beaches, the white sand, the greenery, the structures, everything. You then realized how hot it must be. Then it came to your realization that you should apply sunscreen at least on your face. Since a tan is more prefereable than sunburn.

Half an hour later, you arrived at the resort exhausted and fully protected with sunscreen. You paid the driver and walked inside the resort. It was breathtaking. Like nothing you've ever seen. The entrance was grand. With dancers and traditional Hawaiian music being played. When you walked inside however, it was even bettter. Tropical greenery filled the place as you walked on stone steps. The design of the resort was beautiful. How much more will the rest of Hawaii be?

You continued to walk, getting greeted by staff with "Aloha!" then you would say it back. It seemed that in this country, everyone was kind and hospitable. Your socially awkward ass would definitely have trouble keeping up with this positive energy. Even the receptionist seemed nice! After getting your room keycard she said

"Have a wonderful stay Ma'am! And if you'd like a tour of the entire resort, you can just call for that. And I would also recommend a visit to our bar. Happy Hour is at 9 pm." She said with a reassuring smile.

"Actually I think I will consider that. Thanks!" You said awkwardly, being flushed on how she guessed you'd want a drink as soon as possible. A member of the staff helped you carry your luggage to your room as you walked.

When you arrived, at least your hotel room in the resort got your body  relief. You opened the AC right away then you tied your now greasy hair in a ponytail and practically collapsed on the queen sized bed whispering a silent, "Thank God."

It took you awhile to actually get up and put your luggage in a nice place. After that you looked around the room to know where everything is. You smiled to your self. You picked a simple room but witha great view of the outside by your balcony. It over looked the beach and to your right you could see a few hills.

"I could get used to this." You silently mumbled to yourself. You will spending the next two months of your vacation here.

You picked up your phone and set an alarm for 7pm. Then you took off your shirt, leaving you in your sports bra and jean shorts. You plopped on the bed pulling the blanket over you then you drift off in a good afternoon sleep.

---

The harsh sound of your alarm wakes you up. You prepare for self for night out. After taking a shower and applying a small amount of make up you get dressed. You haven't thought about your outfit the night before. But you settled wearing a dark blue backless swimsuit, just in case you decide to go swimming, and your jean shorts from earlier for decency.

You locked your room and went out. Having to ask directions from the staff first, you head your way to the bar. It wasn't far and you could basically hear the music from a mile away.

The bar was filled with people. Both drunk and sober. People danced around the disco lights. Then your hunger hits you. You remembered the last thing you ate was a shitty omelet they served for breakfast in the plane.

"Goddammit." You cursed yourself and did the only logical thing your lonely ass could do. You went up to the bar tender and sat on the stool. You gave the menu a small scan and settled for a bourbon peach sweet tea.

Turning around, you scan the dance floor. The song Piña Colada started to play and you saw a couple grinding on each other. You were disgusted...but a bit interested. How they sensually danced to a slow song was beyond you. You would do that, maybe. You just needed someone to dance with.

"Hi, um...do you mind if I sit here?"

You turned your head to a lovely looking asian girl. She had a small smile on her face. She said her words with an accent, but you couldn't point out what kind.

"I don't." You replied to her, turning your body towards her.

This is it (Name). Time to make a friend. You said to yourself then giving liberty to ask her about her accent.

"Where are you from? You don't look and sound like you live here." You asked in an attempt to start a conversation. The bartender placed your bourbon peach sweet tea in front of you. You paid him and the girl replied.

"Well actually, I'm Korean! My name is Yongsun Kim." Yongsun said with a tender smile. It seemed like she was struggling to keep her English sounding authentic. You smirked at her and took a sip of your drink.

"Nice to meet you Yongsun. I'm (Name). I live in (Your Country)." You replied to her in Korean. Her reaction was priceless. Her mouth was left agape and her eyes widened. She looked like she was trying to stop herself from gasping, making you chuckle. She was insanely cute.

"I...did not expect that!" She said back in Korean. She laughed and you laughed along with her. They way she tucked a piece of her blonde hair behind her ear made your cheeks flush.

You took a few more gulps of your drink. Yongsun's eyes wandered to the dance floor. She spotted the couple grinding on each other and she scoffed.

"That looks fun." She said.

You don't know why you said it. Maybe it was because of the alcohol finally kicking in. But you asked her with a confidence that you wished you had in other days

"Wanna dance?"

Yongsun was caught off guard again. But when she faced you, you could see the faint red on her face despite the dim light of the bar. She nodded her head as you both headed off to the dance floor.

Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne

You were not sure what to do or what to dance. So you just swayed your hips back and forth until Yongsun grabbed your waist and swayed with you.

She hummed to the beat of the song and you wanted to hear more.

I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape
At a bar called O'Malley's, where we'll plan our escape

You wondered if she ever sang. Or if she was a singer. Her voice calmed you and your shoulders weren't tense anymore. You took the liberty to rest your hands on her shoulders.

For a second, you lost balance and almost tripped. But Yongsun pulled you closer and you were now cupping her cheeks.

"It's alright. It's alright." She said continuing to dance. You giggled with her as you felt like you were gradually losing yourself.

That you liked Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of cham pagne

And about her laugh, you thought it was so adorable. And the way she smiled after she laughed. The way you wanted to touch her cheek. The way a stranger made you so distracted from the world.

If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape

You both stared at each other now. Both losing yourself to the beat and each other. A strand of Yongsun's hair was covering part of her face. You brought your hand to her face and tucked it behind her ear.

And for a second you thought that maybe you weren't going to spend your summer alone.

If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
If you're not into yoga, if you have half a brain
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape
I'm the love that you've looked for, come with me, and escape
