My goal had always been to become a famous horse trainer. It had always seemed to be a far fetched until I moved. I'd always been active in equestrian events at my old stable, but here at Ocean Crest Equestrian Center we can go to big league shows and events. Soon I will join them in their world.
My first encounter with horses was when I was 4 years old and my mom took me to a nearby pony farm. I fell in love with a frail looking pinto named Peanut. After that I begged my mom to take me to see him everyday. He soon came to recognize our car and would send a welcome whinny whenever I came. I learned to ride on him and we'd dash through the forest when allowed. When Peanut passed away a few years back the winter I turned 13, I was heartbroken. That's when I got Thunder.
My horse Heavenly Thunder is a 12 year old Morgan gelding. He is a brilliant blood bay with a white stripe down his face. I have owned him for three years and competed him for two. When I got him he had been turned out for a good part of his life after his owner decided he wasn't good enough to compete. That was when my dream came to be.
Thunder and I love cross country, dressage and western events. He and I have a special bond, formed after he got tangled in a almost invisible barbed wire fence and I had to cut him free. I like to think he would do anything for me, which he probably would. Most people sell their old horses, but I would never get rid of Thunder. My mom and I moved to Maine this spring, with the lure of a job offer and family ties. It wasn't bad, but sometimes I miss my old riding friends. We were inseparable, but at least I have Thunder. I was also thrilled by the fact that a prized filly, who had been born at a stable I rode at would be nearby, hopefully I might see her at competitions once her training began. Wishing On A Comet was a horse created by dreams, with the bloodlines to prove it and had inspired me to contemplate becoming a trainer or world class rider.
